RFF EuroMeet, Florence, April 10-11 2010

Hello,

By popular vote the weekend of the 10th and 11th of April has been chosen.

The idea behind the meet is to spend the days exploring, being guided by those who live in or know the area to see the places that are not in the guidebooks.

Florence is the main centre, but Pisa and Lucca are both very close, so we can pop across to those as well (Lucca is especially gorgeous).

Anyone is welcome, whether you're a member of RFF or not, whether you are a ninja photographer or like me, take many photos of your feet and the lens cap...

If you click here, you can access the Google Map which anyone can edit. Add whatever comes to mind that might be useful (cool little village, somewhere to see, hotel, eatery, bar....).

Finally, although the 10th and 11th are the days, many people will be there before and after the weekend (I think I will fly in on the Thursday and out on the Monday/Tuesday, for example).

Ok, I booked flights. GF is coming too. Flying to Pisa on Thursday midday and returning on Sunday night.
We 'd be interested to spend first night in Pisa, see Lucca on Friday then Florence for the weekend. What do you think ?

How wonderful to live in Europe. Here's one from my last trip to Florence. I am a little further south and I won't be there next year I'm afraid.

nice! I didn't know about RFF euromeetings! I may be coming on Saturday or Sunday, it's just a 2 hours train ride from Rome.

I live in Florence since one year and a half, so I can guide you downtown (at least for what concerns food and drinks)

I'll not be in town the 10th but I'll be available all the previous week, the 11th, and the week after, so be prepared to visit many good restaurants if you'll stay more than those exact two days..

great to see many friends confirming their presence at the meeting. I hope others will join in!
Of course I'm in and Gaia too. Also couple of friend from my local fotoclub will join the meeting.

I'm arriving on the Thursday and leaving on the Monday, staying at Hotel Il Bargellino, which is 45 euro a night for a single. Now to find the cheap flights, if possible...

Is the plan to stay mainly in Florence or to visit the surroundings too ? (Pisa, Lucca, Siena, etc).
Asking just to plan logistic for me and wife.
Weìll be there for the weekend.

From what I understand the "official" meeting will be in Florence only. However it seems a few of us (me, Kully, Simon, Yanidel) are heading for Pisa and Lucca as well, probably on Thursday and Friday respectively.

I just booked my flights, arriving in Bologna 11:15 Thursday and leaving again on Sunday at 17:45. Kully, Simon and Yanidel with their respective girlfriends are all flying in and out of Pisa and I'm catching a train there (flying to Pisa was almost twice the price of my current ticket).

Looking forward to seeing you all again!
