Great set, kuvvy. I especially like the perspective on the second one. Well-seen!

It took me a few months of really tinkering with the cameras and exploring post processing options before I could really grasp exactly how to handle the images from my Ricoh. I'm now on my second GRDIII after having sold the first and I'm hanging on to it for dear life.

That camera's black and white mode is really great. Handled the highlights and shadows equally well. Awesome shot, too. It definitely is all you need. Well, that and a camera...

@dogbunny and @OlliL: What are these things? They look kind of gnarly.

They're called stag beetles.
Pretty uncommon and rarely to be seen, at least here.

I won't touch them, but I'm not into bugs and spider anyway

Whenever I think about replacing my GRD with something a bit more advanced this thread just reminds me what is possible with a modestly sized sensor and a 28mm effective lens. A couple from recent adventures...

I'm in Japan at the moment. Little boys keep them as pets here, but the one I shot was walking down the sidewalk. They are good subjects to shoot because they barely move.

Sounds like an interesting hobby.

Yes they walk pretty slow, but when they fly....

Btw. My dog did check it out, too.

I really like the macro mode--not just for shooting bugs, but because minimum focus distance becomes a non-issue. This is a female, I think.
