Moody Sunday with a Epson R-D1

i had several rolls of c-41 based B&W film XP2 to be developed

today, and i went to my usual Parkway Standard Photos lab to

have it developed i was told by the lady that it would take a week.

etu ?

they closed down the processing machine in parkway. Five metres

away, the other shop said the same, they no longer do

processing of c41 films on location.

i felt a migraine coming up...

no worries, let me see, the other lab Konota would not be opened

for another four hours, where would i go in the meantime ?

took a cab to Burlington Square, heard about a shop Triple-D but

never been there.... tried the number but no answer....

"Closed on Sunday"

hmmm.... walked over to the nearby Camera Hospital to ask

Steven the main proprietor to have a look at my IIIf, the

screwmount camera didn't like my Summicron 50/f2 wide-open,

the eyes were blur while the ears were sharp, perhaps a

back-focused problem.

After some checks, my iiif was okay, so where's

the bloody problem ?

i felt the sky darken on this hot hot day, and

i trudged along Prinsep road

(... to be continued...)

no worries...i decided that with the latest prediction

on the death of film, i would treat myself to a

nice lunch while i pondered what to do next...

as i walked along the shops, i came across a specialised

wig and eyelashes shop

which promised authentic hair from chinese villagers, and same across a

uber cool pizza shop, with pop-icon motifs... my mood started to pick up.

I snucked into the venerable Tao Restaurant,

attracted by the interesting decors and bored patrons...

...to be continued .....

After a most satisfying meal of beef stew, I wandered into

another PhotoLab, the kind lady told me that the

main processing was located in Bishan Street 22.

Hey, that's like a stone's throw from where I am currently staying.

After a bit of searching, voila, i found it...

A very chatty staff told me all the Standard Photo jobs have been

consolidated to Bishan 22 branch. And yes, they still take walk-ins and

express service within 30 mins.

While I waited for the film to be developed, i walked around the various shops,

this place has the highest concentration of hair-saloons (like 14 shops),

five nail spasand six clinics and dentists plus 2-3 pet shops....

anyway, i felt mildy better after I collected my stash and before i went

home, I took this flare-inducing photo in Bishan 22,

All the pictures taken here were done on the Epson R-D1

shot around iso 400, the lens used is the

Version 1 Summicron Collapsible.

Post processing to reflect my moody Sunday.

thanks for viewing...

Glad it all ended well. Nice shots with the Epson. I've been comtemplating a visit to our local Chinese resturant. Your photo of the bored fellow just reminded me of that.

Wow Ray!

Your illustrated story has me considering keeping the RD-1 I have listed in the classifieds.
What to do? What to do? What to do.
