I just tried that, and it seems to downscale the photo to 600 max length... damn...

I personally think posting pictures here and contributing to image threads is very important.

Every week, after uploading to smugmug and flickr, I select a few pictures, resize and post here. Nothing much to it.

Roland.

Well, I posted two photos to my Gallery yesterday. Though no one has commented on them, I'm surprised that they are actually having views! I posted the same photos to Flickr and they got more views here than in Flickr so far... Interesting!

However, the file size is very small and I had some trouble scaling the photos but when I changed the format to .jpeg it was ok.

As they say ... "It's all good!"
I'm glad you read it the way I wrote it. Good fun. I'm also impressed you read it ;D

I voted for the flickr option and that's true, but I also link back from flickr into the threads. I just don't understand how to upload to RFF galleries. So I post photos this way.

I used to post more back when we could link Flickr/etc.. images directly to the gallery. Now I only put up experiments or, the odd shot I think might be interesting to those few member who actually "Hang Out" primarily in the gallery ... a good thing (as opposed to the gear threads ...maybe a bad thing). It's a bit awkward making and storing an image sized just to post here. Hot linking to threads is easy but I rarely start my own.

I like this site and I would post more images, but I don't like Flickr particularly and do not load any of my images to any other galleries where I could post something bigger than a thumbnail. My only complaints about Rangefinderform are this protocol for posting full-size images and the abysmal search engine word requirements and timeouts. Other than that, I find everything else to be excellent.

I post images in threads but for some reason I can not post images in the gallery, I get some strange message telling me I can't.......I'm sure if I asked Stephen or one of the moderators about it, they could help me out....

I actually only post a small percentage of my photos online (here, Flickr,etc...) due to many reasons.....but I try to share some of my images here and I appreciate seeing images by other members here.....

All the talk about gear is fine, I enjoy reading and learning from fellow rff members, but to be honest, I'm more interested in seeing photos.

Cheers, michael

Astro, another positive vote for your work. I have to say a rosary after I look at your pictures, but that's ok. ;-)

I like to post photos and comment on others pictures, but only when they catch my eye and I have something positive to say. It is interesting to see which of my pics get NO comment, sometimes they are the ones I am happiest with.

I have posted to the gallery but find it is too much work to get the digital image down to the rather small file size. Flickr and other sites far more user friendly.

With Flickr, Facebook and 500px, I'm not keen on maintaining another gallery.

That said, I do post into occasional threads.

I do post often, no matter my scanner is the crappiest scanner on Earth. But more I enjoy watching pictures of the other active members!

I allways had a hard time to get pictures posted in a good enough size. Allredy got some help but with some time in between I can't figure out how to manage size beyond thumbnails when I sponaneously want to share some pics. And then I keep them to myself....but sometime soon I will practice and then.....

I post in the W/NW Photo Association often as I really loved the way people associate theirs with the last post sometimes it makes me think long and hard.

Due to my lack of knowledge on almost every issue being discussed in RFF, I rather prefer to read the threads, learn something about (real) photography and post the images from my photolog in 'W/NW' and 'Photo Association'.

I created my photolog to share with my family and friends my experiences away from home in first place. Now, I love posting them also here. Besides that, I can always upload picture to my Flickr to post in specific threads here.

I am currently stepping into Film, so I will have to learn how to share my new (tangible) photos in here.

Cheers

I've kind of quit posting online in general. I'm focused on making a bodies of work and books. I show my works in progress to people in person.

Lately I post quite regularly in the gallery, I find it funny how my photos usually stick out among all the b&w images. Beside that occasionally to Sigma Merrill threads.

I wouldn't say I'm a regular here yet. I did learn how to post photos to threads though. I wish they'd show up as pictures instead of links you need to click on though.
I like the 'gear' threads and would find them a lot more educational if people wouldn't assume everyone knows what lens/camera/piece of equipment they were talking about and instead add a picture of it. Sometimes the lens discussions get to be just so many numbers acronyms jumbled together it's hard to keep track.
I still haven't found a 'How to post photos to the gallery' thread here so no, I don't post to the gallery. I have a feeling that holds the key as to how the great pics of cameras show up so nicely in the 'Show me your...' threads.

Good question. I wished your poll allowed for more than one response:1- I’m not confident enough in my own work to be able to post images here(For me, a recent re-entry to use a camera, digital and recently film) AND 2-I can’t get my head around the process of posting in threads or in the gallery.....
RFF has been a great experience for me for seeing images-the talent and the shared knowledge.....
