Fujifilm discontinues two professional films

IFujifilm UK has announced the complete discontinuation of its Fujichrome Velvia 100F, as well as a ra
ifilm Professional is putting an end to the production of its Fujichrome Velvia 100F in 35mm, 120 and 4x5 formats, and Velvia 50 in 4x5 and 8x10, BJP has learned. The last shipment of these films will arrive in the UK in December 2012.

Fujifilm tells BJP that its Velvia 50 will continue to be distributed in 35mm and 120 formats.

If you highlight it as if you were going to copy it you can read it but it is still rather inconvenient.

I just started shooting a bit of slide film. I only managed a few rolls of Kodachrome - I've always been more of a black and white sort - but do want to shoot more chrome while its around.

I guess I'm lucky that I picked Velvia 100 instead of 100f?

On the mothership's website, it states that the 4x5 quick load packs of 20 are discontinued for Velvia 50, Velvia 100, Velvia 100F, and Provia 100F, but there's nothing about 120 or 35mm film being discontinued.

Only the quick load packs are discontinued (already long time outside of Japan) or the normal sheet films also?

According to the information on Fujifim's website, only the quick load packs are discontinued. There's nothing about the sheets of film being discontinued.

generally I would agree that the mothership is the one to take as the current truth but the following is a fuji UK site and the head honcho at Fuji UK is saying Japan say production is ceasing. I know Fuji UK have done all they can to keep supplies going but either UK head honcho is lying or Fuji Japan are waiting to announce it which is a bit odd since its been put in the public domain first by a regional boss and not Japan. So I'm uncertain whats going on now. It could be other countries are still working out a final order date and confirmation of expected delivery date. There could be all sorts of reasons why no one else has said anything. It could be they don't want to start a panic buying rush from previous experience. Who knows....

I mailed with the Fuji importer in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg) and they say that Velvia films are still be delivered and in the near future....
At the Photo Kina in Koln there will be more information about all the Fuji films.

For the long run they cannot give any guarantee . The sales for slide films is still decreasing.
Fuji will do the utmost to save their slide films...

You could be right. I suspect that Fujifilm UK has stopped importing the film, but it will still be available for a while longer in Japan and other places. Until stock eventually runs out. Guess we'll have to wait and see for sure.

That isn't a Fuji UK site, it's some random blog I've never heard of. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Simple answer? You can take the film sheets out of the box without having to load it first in a darkroom. They are put in paper already.
