You've got your priorities right - who cares about postcards at times like this!
To have one precious person in your family at risk is bad enough, but to have two is quite numbing so I guess you are running on auto at present.
I'm sure the three of you are in all 'us guys' thoughts and prayers at this time - a wave of help and support coming your way.

Speaking about delays, it turns out a number of mine never actually got sent because the guy forgot about them (there is a bit of a complicated procedure here to avoid this turning into the aforementioned $250 exercise). Sorry guys.
It seems to have affected mostly Americans. Did anyone from the USA actually get my cards? Raid mentioned a card that was probably mine.
Anyway I'm in Europe now on a conference and will try to send them again over the next few days.

After a postcard drought of about two weeks, last week brought 3 great cards. Mike(UK), Gareth (Canada), Oscar(Mexico). The total including mine is 54. This collection is awesome! If anyone hasn't received mine let me know. Thanks to Rob for putting it together. And everyone for the amazing work! I've enjoyed taking part. @Phillip, I didn't get it yet. Thanks Joe (Euclid, Ohio)

Philip, Yours arrived here (New York) a while ago -- lovely shot of a small roadside building, sporting a green roof, with some tall, straight trees (poplars?) behind it.
EDIT: On a somewhat related note, my card to Jeremy Johns was returned marked "address incomplete". It seems I left off the unit number. Jeremy: I will resend and apologize for the mix up!

There must have been more than one Jeremy Johns in that building who has been receiving a lot of photographs/postcards this month.

The workings of the post system really puzzle me... I believe dct in Switzerland received it before some members in the US. I know a member in the UK already received it yet you, in the Netherlands, haven't received it yet... :S
My apologies for the late delivery, I can only hope it gets there soon; it's already been 4 weeks since I mailed them.

You are right: The delivery times are very random, also looking at the sending date and arrival of other postcards. I don't see any system behind these very different time frames. Anyone with insights into international post delivery here?

I've sent a few things to Asia from the USA but not enough to really know the inner workings. However, the general rule of thumb is one method involves a plane and takes less than a week, and the other involves a boat and takes a few months. Depending on the item, the price is negligible and I always ask to make sure they are going to put it on a plane.

Time moves on! (Not the brightest of observations!)
Are we now at the stage of posting details of pictures and printing of the cards we have sent out, details that will include the original photo from which our card was produced?
I'm about 5 cards down on the projected number and my 'missing' ones seem to generally correspond to everybody elses missing cards - bar one which I assume has just got lost in the post somewhere.
I do have a few spare cards and if anyone is missing my 'Trees' I'll happily send a replacement - just pm me.
Great project that has provided a lot of pleasure to so many people - thanks everyone and Rob in particular for setting it up.
jesse

OK, y'all!
I have been tied up with work stuff for the last several days but that also gave a bit more time for a cuople more cards to arrive here!
Jason,
Please don't spend any time or thought about this project, your family situation comes first and the postcard project should be a very distant lower priority. Prayers to you and yours for a thorough recovery.
Oscar, I did get yours--Saturday last-- and it is beautiful!
Phillip, I got yours quite a while back and it's quite good, too!
Anyway,
I think it is time to start the public sharing!
Quickly, here is what I sent:
I almost went with a color shot but decided to use this one instead. Another photo of the lake I live and work on. A much better composition, I think, than the photo I used for the first project.
Not sure I got the sense of chill and damp from that morning but I like it well enough and hope y'all did as well.
I do have a photo of all the cards I've received so far but I'll have to show that later as I need to get back to my kitchen and start cooking lunch for the 27 people I'm feeding this week.
Thank you all agian for making this project the excellent experience it is!
Round three will be later in the Fall, I think.
Much respect and appreciation,
Rob

I went for humor and sent the following image. Even though there were thousands of dachshunds at this event (the annual Dachshund Derby, held at Golden Gate Fields in the SF Bay Area), I had to hang around about 15 minutes for this to happen. Light was harsh midday, but hopefully the fun-factor makes up for the less-than-compelling light.
Moo's printing was considerably less contrasty than this, and the postcard format required a slightly different crop too.
EDIT:
Info for tkrötenblender's Index (since I know I was one who provided no info on the card):
camera: Zeiss Ikon ZM
lens: Zeiss Biogon 35/2
film: Neopan 400
developer: HC-110

Okay, here is mine. It was made with M9/Color Skopar 35mm. The house is just around the corner from where I live. I really loved the color of it on a mild early summer day.
Although I'm missing 5 cards, yet (really missing only four, because we know about Jason and his current priorities - best luck to you!), I made a simple index-page of all postcards I received so far.
It contains scans of front- and backside (backside often very interesting because of signs of transportation) and some statistics and basic info about all cards. I was not able to figure out all information from the cards (could not read the writing sometimes...), so this is far from complete. But I hope to complement the infos, when the participants here post infos to their cards.
I hope you find it worth a look:

These trees lie on a rocky glacial outcrop just at the side of the old track running by our house. The track as a major local link was abandoned when the coastaL road was built in the 1800s but provides a good early morning dog walk. The trees are about 30' above sea level while the valley side in the background is well over 1000'. This is part of my neighbourhood.
Taken a year or so back with a Canon Sureshot Supreme using Kodacolor 200 ASA and commercially scanned, I think I've slightly oversharpened. With that and a slight crop the postcard was done using a 'Vistaprint' special offer that gave a good price.
I was quite pleased with the scanning and the resultant card. The colour is 'about right' and the photo does give you some feel for this part of Wales - although it doesn't include many of the multitude of sheep!

My photo was taken in May, 2012 with an E-PL1 with the kit lens on the wide end. 1/500th, f5.6, ISO 200.
This was the day of the annual city "Lilac Parade" and depending on the snow melt, a couple of river channels merge here with spectacular volume gushing. The area and buildings beyond the river are Riverfront park, and old water power buildings, and remnants of the '70s World Fair exhibits. Was taken from a short bridge that goes over the river and connects downtown.

Here's the image I sent:
It was at the Roger Williams Zoo, when I took the kids out for the day while my wife was out of town. They feed the elephants from these hanging nets of grasses, so the elephants have to work for it in the same manner they would work over trees.
Sitting at the cafe near the elephant enclosure, in a rare moment of deciding to mount my 90mm lens, I saw the composition and liked it. It crystalized for me what I've always found so disconcerting about elephants, that the trunk really seem to be a separate creature with its own mind.

The photograph was taken on September 24, 2011 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I met up with a couple of other Leica Rangefinder users from the Boston Area at the museum and spent a few hours walking the halls taking photographs and had lunch before we went our separate ways.
I took a few shot of this elderly gentleman as he walked around studying the painting on the wall. In this particular photograph he had sat down for a rest and was studying the paintings from afar.
Observations
M9 ~ Summilux-M 50mm f1.4 ASPH
The MFA in Boston has a very liberal policy regarding use of a camera in the museum. If they own the art work, you can include it in a picture. If it is privately owned and on loan for an exhibit they request that no photographs be taken. There were certainly plenty of Museum staff on duty and not once did they stop us from taking any photographs. It was a great day to spend with a couple of camera enthusiasts that I met for the first time that day at the museum.
A few others that I shot that day can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2667261...7626799691570/
I had a great time receiving the 52 postcards to day, 53 including my own and hold out hope that a couple of more may make it to my doorstep. Two postcards that others have received were sent by Phillip from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Oliver from Mascouche, Quebec, Canada and perhaps they will find there way to my door!
Thanks to everyone who participated!
. . . . . Look forward to the next round!
