HU: Canon LTM 35/2 $199
On ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120974399349
Description mentions light internal haze, but still -- if I weren't in gear reduction mode....

Easiest $199 the seller ever made. I'd have taken a stab at fixing it if I'd been able to purchase it.

FWIW light internal haze on canon rf lenses is just something on the surface of the elements and can be easily cleaned off with the right wipes. Preferably done by a qualified repair guy with the tools to disassemble the lens and put it back right. Not the same as the Leica lens haze that is internal to the glass itself.

The nonworking aperture sounds more serious than the haze. If DAG cannot do it, nobody else can.

How many Canon 35/2.0s do you have - seems you mentioned one previously?

Thank you Boris. The lens is not "rare", so even if the aperture mechanism is messed up, he may be able to find spare parts, I hope.

Thank you, Johan. I once owned a "never used" Canon 35/2 that I sold like that, and I have never used such a lens so far. This purchase is to finally allow me to use such a lens.

Nice. I was bidding in kameratori.fi for one but it slipped thru my fingers, so I bought M-Hex 28mm instead.
Have it fixed and have fun with it
Regards,
Boris

I already have a Canon 35/1.5, 35/1.8, and 35/2.8. The 35/2 will make my "set" more complete. If the 35/2 gets repaired, and if the posted reports on this lens are true, then this could become a lens that I will often use.

Might be a good deal unless it needs some obscure part that only a donor lens can provide.
FWIW, the IQ's of the f2 and f1.8 are largely identical, except, of course at f1.8 where there is a marked loss of sharpness. But with a shorter focus throw (sans infinity lock!) and lighter curb weight, the f2 is an overall better lens IMO.
Hope it turns out well for you.

I mostly liked the 35/2.0. Very good image quality, even wide-open. What I didn't like was the build quality, the focusing action and aperture ring on mine always felt excessively loose. Also, the bokeh, wide-open, exhibited the "donut effect," which I didn't like. But f you want a sharp, small and light LTM 35mm lens, this is it.

Now I know why i thought you had one -- let us know how it compares with the other Canons. I am thinking of going for an old summaron, but maybe a canon is just as good.

I find the Summaron 35/2,8 way too costly these days. Its price too off after my 35mm lens comparison. Its images were highly rated by people here.

I'd be curious about the IQ of your lens. I've seen a later version someone was selling. His web album shots show pronounced field curvature - which can be good or bad depending on taste. Cant tell from the pix if they were shot wide open (street scenes at a distance).

Dante and others refer to this lens as an excellent lens, equal to rh Summicron.
