Frameline Weirdness

As attached, today I noticed some strange light to dark to etc. pattern on my R3m's 75 and 50mm framelines; it's particularly noticeable against dark things. Is it just the etched framline window in low light? Something going wrong happening? Just me?

Is the frame illumination window clean? Its also possible there is dirt inside the rf/frame mechanism.

The window's clean on the outside. I wonder how dirt may have found itself in there, and only in that spot. While the hot shoe cover has been removed on two occasions to adjust the vertical alignment and focus at infinity, both times were quite brief and done so cleanly.

These cameras are not dust-sealed, so its common to get dust and crap in them, especially if you work in a dusty environment. I used to live in New Mexico, and dust was a HUGE problem out there.
