Is this Rolleiflex on eBay FAKE?

I have just read a post about this auction on ebay. The other post claims this is a fake White Face. They said the ser# of the White Face should not be on the top of the camera.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ex-White-Fac...item484672e1c6

According to this site, http://johnsrolleionlypage.homestead...ollection.html

It seems to confirms the comment. Anyone have any comment about this? Is this a LEGO Rolleiflex? I just want to be careful!!

Serial number is a K4F1 model according to this site.

Rollei Club.

Yes, you are right.

It is a "LEGO Rolleiflex" in that the front has obviously been replaced with a spare part. It's not a fake though, since the serial number is on the name plate and not on the front.

It should be as good as any late 3,5F, but not for a White Face collector.

Understood, but my point is that should it be not be labeled as a White Face, since White Face price is almost 2x the normal 3.5

I agree. It can be called a "replica made from real Rollei parts". I would personally pay less for that than for a non-White Face with original parts.

You don't even see any wear marks on the 'white face', unlike the rest of the camera. They are definitely trying to drive up the price on a nice user camera.

The seller may not know about any issues with the authenticity of the item.

I have a 2.8F white face with the SN below the lens, but it also has a serial # on the nameplate. D*mmit. Is this the kind of thing that happened when a camera without a meter was retrofitted with one?

Oh, they've been in business long enough to know what they are doing.

They post a substantial proportion of the high-end Rollei ads on eBay. I take this as a cautionary note about dealing with them!

Yes, he has lots of high end stuff and sell it at very high price. Do not mind if it is real and mint condition, but not for a LEGO one (((((

No, if a light meter is installed or removed the only difference on the outside is the nameplate (the transparent thing for the selen cell or a black insert there) and the meter needle housing on the focus knob.

Your White Face front has probably been engraved and replaced at the factory. A repair maybe.
