Hey all you bag, strap, camera case fetishists!
Check out this Chinese eBay seller. (I have absolutely no affiliation with him other than having bought and received something)
Click on the link "see other items" to see his other stuff for sale.
He is a very clever marketer. He shows vintage folders and Leicas with leather and canvas hand-made stuff, he shows hip looking pretty girls carrying vintage cameras, and in some of his descriptions the copy is very good. Almost like old "Banana Republic" catalogs from the 1980's or Peterman catalogs.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/jasoncui2/m....p2047675.l2562
The thing I bought is very good and well made. Also reasonable prices.
Young Cartier-Bresson do not need a photography bag which looks obvious professional features, besides carrying also uncomfortable. A simple and light, soft bag are more convenient , this casual, subtle appearance, back-up are comfortable, you can wear it for street snap and will not make you in the limelight.

Looks good, how is the texture and is this real leather? I think I got my RX100 LCD cover from them.

It all seems to be very high quality. Good stitching, thick canvas, definitely real tanned leather

Hey.. why is the strap attached to the Leica advertised as a "neck strap for EVIL film camera"?

It's only 8:10 AM where he is...
He's probably rolling out of bed or on his way to work right now

Fine Chinese salesmanship
The descriptions are precious - no Babelfish/Google Translate required!

How long did it take for delivery of your merchandise? I have bought from some of the chinese ebay merchants, and it has taken as long as six weeks for delivery. That said, I have not been disappointed with any of the goods I have purchased yet.
Cheers,
Tom

About two and a half weeks to New York City from China. No special express mail asked for.

I was in a shop that sells Crumpler gear the other day and the guy running the shop was thinking of ordering something just to see how well made they are. He was gobsmacked at the price and had already heard that they are very well made!

If you search eBay, there are a lot of Chinese sellers with almost identical bags.
They must all be getting from one factory, I wonder where.

Did anyone ever receive one of these "Courser" bags? What were your impressions?

Been there with Chinese knockoff camera bags. Looks can be deceiving. The ones I got were junk. Moral of the story: if they are priced cheap, they probably are.

My dad spent half his life in Hong Kong... and thus has a bunch of cheap chinese knockoff bags for his cameras. I don't know if the same can be said for these bags, but I wouldn't doubt the quality of them... they can be surprisingly good.
At the end of the day, how hard is it for someone to sew canvas together with a sewing machine?

It isn't hard, but quality involves far more than operating a sewing machine. How heavy is the thread, how good is the fabric, are the workers paid living wages or are they basically slaves? The last one is not necessarily a quality issue, but its a human decency issue, and that's important to me.

These look really nice!
Half the price of a Domke, I wonder if they're at least half as good.
I really liked two models...
tall canvas bag with the option of using it as a backpack, useful feature
http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-canv...item3a69e13292
and this fake leather classy daily bag which doesnt look AT ALL like a camera bag
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Look...item3cc02033d1
really considering giving them a try. I have a couple Billinghams which I guess should be rockin' in 20 years still, but for different uses... who knows. damn GAS threads

Some of them look like great products, the "Billingham" messenger bag look is bound to continue to have more and more imitators over time.

Ask Jim Domke. (On his kitchen table, no less.)
As an aside, I got into Domke bags decades ago, in part because they 'didn't look like a camera bag'. Well, they didn't compared to the cheesy rigid vinyl covered boxes and poor-man's Halliburtons that I first worked with in the 70s. But, really, if you're carrying a camera and you are carrying any bag that bags screams 'more cameras!'
Most thieves are low-risk opportunistic grab-and-dash operators. The worst thing you can do is put down your bag or turn your back on it for a moment. Someone putting a knife or gun to your neck is another story; better listen to him.

You get what you pay for. It is a cheap $35.99 Billingham knock off from Chongqing, China. According to the "Neutral" (aka "money refunded") comments, I wouldn't buy a vintage leather bag that was really a new, pleather (fake leather/plastic) bag that was held together with glue. What's not to love?
