Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

6200 EUR for the new M. This is ridiculous. M9 was 5400 EUR.

I think we "knew" its something like that...

curious how used M9 prices reflect these news. stabilize around 3000-3500€?

The good news

The good part of the whole Leica announcement, if you ask me, is the Dlux 6 - 24mm at f/1.4

I will wait for the Panasonic version and reviews.

finally weather sealing that many has been hoping for. and "R-solution". and longer battery. no automatic sensor cleaning. wonder who made "LEICA MAX 24 MP CMOS Sensor"...

but they've been busy. nice!

You do not need to wait, Sunti. The LX7 has already been released and reviewed some weeks ago.

Leica devotees and users are sure happy! Good luck to Leica. A bold step to keep the M series going. Sales are more than OK, even, if like me, kinda out of reach..Those of you who can afford, Go and enjoy.
There are lots of cameras but only a Leica.
The color X2 well following Pentax lead with crazy deco. Great idea! Using that makes you really invisible! Yes! Nobody would think a pro using that..
If not pro, well get out your zoot suit!

By naming the camera "Leica M" they surely are mounting themselves on all their legacy users. Now I'm not even permitted to say "I shoot M", or people will associate me with rich folks who burn $7000 for a digital camera and maybe the same amount for the latest chunk of glasses.

after sleeping the night over it (dreaming about my M ) camera itself seems nice, but naming it feels like someone at marketing tried to be too creative... a bit like how Canon revamps their product names after some years. but M-lines appeal is large part in its tradition, that includes naming of cameras. M10 would have been just fine.
