Your Plans for Shooting the Fall Colours.

I went for a walk this evening with the Bessa L & 25/4 lens. Loaded in the camera was some Ferrania Solaris 200 film. As I was walking around the lake I could faintly see some change in the leaves. I love to shoot colour in the fall. It's my favorite time of year. What do you plan to shoot the fall colours with?

Probably going to be heading up to Tallulah Gorge State Park and shoot with my NEX-5N and 16mm pancake and maybe take one of my Fujica AX-3s and shoot some Ektar.

Since I love looking at medium format chromes, I like to go out with my Diacord L TLR and shoot some nice, saturated slide film. Last year it was loaded with E100VS, this year I will have to learn to use Velvia 100 (no f). In Wisconsin, I'm lucky enough to be within short distance of some great public natural areas, so I tend to hike the prairies, oak savannas, and forests of the area see what I can find.

Is there a "W/NW Fall Color" thread somewhere?

i reckon i can step outside and dig hickories, hop hornbeam, scarlet and red oaks, beech, poplar and sweet gum - if we have a pretty fall. never know down here ...

Can anyone suggest some film that's friendly for a predominantly B&W shooter who is willing to pass over tmax and take advantage of the seaskn in the northeast? I'd heard some film (kodak gold, maybe?) have a weird green color cast only in the shade...

I still have some Velvia 50 in 120 along with a Pro Pack of Ektar...might give one of them a go...we still have a lot of time for the colors to really start changing...

If you want to shoot negatives, Fuji negatives really bring out green, sometimes too much for my taste. The old Portra NC accentuates yellow and red to my eyes.

I've never worked with the new Portra, but if it's like the NC, it should be a good choice for fall colors. I'm planning to try some myself.

2 years ago got some Ektar 100 in Algoquin Park near Toronto, last year I took this one in Vancouver Stanley park:

Digital is the way to go with color for me now.

I'll leave the city in an hour, 125mile drive to the woods where i'll be staying this week. Canonet 1.7 and Hi-matic G loaded with Agfa colorfilm in the bag.

The first week or two of October is usually the best time to see the fall colors in the Eastern Sierras outside Bishop, CA. I'll be there with my Pentacon Six and Carl Zeiss Jena glass. Will probably use Ektar 100.

Thanks for the thread Greg. Normally I use digital, but this fall I think I'll include medium format. I'm not sure if I'll go with ektar or slide film. More than likely than not, I'll end up using both.

Hope to load up both cameras, shoot two different slide films and maybe take along the M9 too. Will be an interesting comparison. I need several 30+ inch canvasses for walls to change things out. Southeastern Connecticut has yet to turn. Lots of nice New England scenery.

I'm hoping that my LTM kit (just bought a Leice IIf and I hope to find a 50mm 3.5 Elmar.) I'll shoot the rest of my Kodak Gold 200 on MacDonald Avenue where Hitchcock shot much of "Shadow of a Doubt." The Fall colors are always amazing in Santa Rosa.

I'm staying local in the Piney Woods and Post Oak Belt of Texas. However I haven't shot fall with film for awhile. I think I'll do it with the OM2s and couple Zuiko lenses and a Sigma 28mm (don't have anything wider than a 50mm in Zuiko). Probably should carry the 35RC too.

I've done some in colour as the leaves are changing already here in the frozen north. Think I'll have to try B&W fall colours next. Will likely do digital either in-camera mono or a conversion.

I think Kodak Ektar 100 is an excellent choice. That is going to be my fall color film. I just have to figure on what camera I want to use.

Thinking Bessa-1 folder loaded with Extar 100 for landscapes and Canon 7D+ 60mm Tamron Macro for getting up close will make a nice combo for shooting fall colors.
So far just seeing small hints of this years colors.

For the fall colours I always try to have a few rolls of Fujicolor C100 or C200 ready. This is opposite to my standard colour film I use (Ektar 100). For my liking (and my workflow) the Fujicolor renders the red-orange-yellow-brown thing better than the slightly cold Ektar colors just out of the development/scan, without heavy corrections in post.
