Got a Pentax SV free a while back
More recently, a Contaflex Super BC free
In September gave away a 135/3.5 Takumar to a fellow RFF member...

This "great cameras for cheap" story is getting attention, per an article in the Economist.
In fact, analogue cameras generally are enjoying something of a revival. In part, this is due to the plethora of old film cameras that can now be had for a song on eBay and elsewhere. Over the past decade, professional as well as amateur photographers have flooded the second-hand market with analogue cameras in excellent condition as they traded up to ever-more exotic digital models.
This is actually a pretty good article. Author had an uncle who bequeathed him a Rolleiflex TLR.

-My best find was a thrift store Contax IIIA, 50mm, 35mm with finder.
-The second best, so far, was my Nikon FE c/w 55mm macro same store.
-Third has to be 2 Nikon FE bodies from Henrys in Toronto listed as parts cameras. They were really nice once they had new batteries.
-The best deals I didn't take home were two reasonably nice Spotmatics, 2 for $5.00.

Not quite as nice a find as the Canon IVF kit that I picked up for $60 last week, but not too bad. I can use the lenses on my FTBn when I actually want to have to think about what I am doing, I suppose.

The sad thing is that film gear has become worth so little that it's not even worth the cost of shipping. I've stopped using film completely, and I'm about to throw a bunch of working film gear away because folks won't even pay shipping for it.

OK, I suspect it can't quite be that bad, unless we're talking about no-name brands in rough shape.
What about posting an ad in the "Want to Trade" classifieds? I thought there was also a freebie thread around here at some point. Well, good luck with it.

I, too, am surprised at this. Not economical to repair... Not even worth paying someone to fix the light seals... Yes, I have those cameras and will eventually toss them.

Well you should at least put up a list so us GASaholics can decide if we want to pay shipping...

I put up a ton of Konica SLR stuff for trade a while back. Not a peep. I didn't rule any trades out—film, whatever. That's not to say that it's a universal condition, but RFF members seem to be fairly saturated now.

They don't burn worth a flip. Can't even roast marshmallows on them.
Don't think they will blend, either. A Nikon F3 would do a job on your blender!

I think before you toss any gear in the trashcan, or box it in the basement, you should post it for "shipping + X " (X being a small number)
People collect things for their design, not necessarily to actually make pictures on film.

I'm all into Olympus OM but don't need any more.
But I know if you put that stuff up on ebay it will get snatched up fast.
Or post a general interest message in the Zuikoholic thread.
Still - if you're going to toss them, PM me first or email me at wblynch (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Don't get sour boys, the reason it is so cheap is that few people want it. It's their loss. Throwing a camera away seems a waste, even if it is not economic to repair. I had a Werra 3 fixed for about three times what it is worth, it is too quirky and fun just to discard it.
But back to the original topic. Today I went to another flea market. Quite some nice stuff, but most of it was clearly too gummed up. Nevertheless I came home with:
Cosina CT-1 super (K-mount manual SLR, same chassis as the Nikon FM10). Mechanically it is fine and seems little used. It came with a 35-70 zoom too. One and a half Euro.
Nikon F-601. Dirty, no lens or battery. Not even a lens cap. But only one euro. YOLO
