Manzanita

I don't know if this was the best, but it is the most distinctive. Leica M3, with Leica 50mm Summicron collapsible. Fuji Velvia 50 film, scanned. Morning sun on Manzanita at Lake Tahoe in October, 2015. There was enough contrast between the backlit leaves and the background so that I could focus the camera -- ordinarily I can't do that.

From my first roll through my (new to me) Nikon FG. Managed to score a 50/2 non Ai lens which I converted myself. Glad to see it worked.

Film was Fuji 200.

Most of the pics were of my daughter but here's one of the Kelpies, near Grangemouth in Scotland. I was fannying about framing etc. when I spotted the person just wandering past the mouth end and had to grab it. I think it works better at arm's length or more. Little bit underexposed alas and not made better by Asda printing or my mediocre scanner, but...

To Kihnu island, Estonia.

One of my favourite ferrys here operating in Estonia's Baltic sea, an old small ferry but always trusty and with a sense of adventure: an open decked boat with nice cafe below deck aside the engine room (yep!) with lovely lady serving very nice coffee you bring up the deck and enjoy aside your bike and the sea breeze

"Amalie" is the name of the ferry, from the same series:

Had a party at my place the other night, lots of happy kids playing with sparklers. Not a technically great photo with blown highlights, but a beautiful moment that I'm so glad to have captured, because I was carrying a camera and not my mobile phone
