Very nice, Allen. I like the first one especially.

In the quotes accompanying Siskind's show at the AIC, he said he preferred that the nature of the subject remain apparent in its abstraction. Your second seems a good example of that.

I have tried several approaches to these, but it became clear that I prefer greater abstraction, as in your first shot. I really get lost in some of these, and it seems like the less recognizable the subject, the better.

Incidentally, I've got a small gallery of these on my tumblr. The alleys of the Loop are a paradise of abstractions.

John that was a wonderful exhibit. One of my professors and very good friends received his MFA from RISD and went there to study under Siskind and Callahan so of course I would have a strong love of Siskinds work.

Your image is wonderful BTW.

Terrific series on you site. Strong body of work.

Testing out my new to me M246, depth of these files are pretty impressive. I still love my Xpro2 but this pairs nicely in my books..

All of these taken with the Voigtlander Heliar 50/2

Fun shot you have there, John. Fortuitously timed so all the vehicle / pedestrian traffic still shows up against the asphalt. Love how crisp that all is. Usually turns to muck or total white here pretty quick.

Contributing another one. You all have me looking out for peeling paint with some of the previous posts.

Thank you, Phil. It was through a dirty window with raindrops and interior reflections, but I got right up against the glass to reduce that stuff. The file was pretty flat, but the structure slider works wonder.

Yours is wonderful subject, composition, and processing. Really enjoyed seeing it.

Lovely shots from the top of the page, the abstracts and John's intersection and the plane (777?—so long and thin.)

Getting ready to embark on a 25-day road trip from here to New Mexico and up to Seattle for the opening of 'Mapping the West' at the Leica Store in Bellevue, WA on April 8th.

Found this one among the mix from November's photos -- couldn't think of a better name for this shot than 'Mapping the West' itself.
