I think these are from my second session.

This has a lot of nice tones when viewing the real print.

Olympus OM-2 50mm 1.8, Tri-x @640.
Durst M601, El-Nikkor 80mm, Kodak Polymax, Ilford Multigrade, 14s 0, 0.5s 5.

And this has a real pop, 3D almost (in my opinion, not starting a 3D war!) Even though the pic isn't all that great.

Agree about the 3D in that last photo. It feels like you are falling into the print.

I'm very pleased I decided to pick up a colour enlarger, and especially one with a built in colour analyser...saves a bit of paper running test prints.

The paper and chemicals are very inexpensive compared to B&W and you can process RA4 in trays at room temperature, so you don't have to invest much to give it a try.
Thanks a lot for the explanation - I have seen a few videos on the 'tube but a written up account is better sometimes.

I am mainly a B&W printer and enjoy the ease of use etc but your color shots sure make it look interesting to try color printing in the future.

Kodak Ektar 100 and Fuji Crystal Archive paper seem to work really well together. A little more saturation and contrast than the Portra 400 I printed last week.

Nice print Lars!
Since you are using a heat press I assume its Fibre. How are you planning on toning it? It is something I'd like to give a try as well!

Beautiful prints of those great machines. The Ektar doesn't look cyan at all which can be a problem when scanning. I find Ektar particularly nice with my old Summitar.

What lens did you use on your 6x7 and does it have any yellowing you had to filter out? I've got a 105mm with mild yellowing but I haven't printed color from it yet.

Fomaspeed Variant 311 and Fomatone MG 532:



FS 311 through the I.R. dryer. FT MG 532 on the hot press but emulsion on the cloth side (you can not put this emulsion on the plate), 55C for about 6 minutes.

These were both taken with my 90mm 2.8 (latest version) without any additional filters. The lens is very clean (thank you Japanese eBay seller!) and doesn't exhibit any yellowing.

Already toned a little in Selenium. Plannimg to tone deep brown in thiourea.

Question: is Fomaspeed still coated on a thinner base compared to MG DeLuxe, MCP, etc?

I love the 312, lovely paper - best d-max among matte papers, but my prints silverd out in a few monts already!!

There is some difference. In the papers specs you can see the small difference. I am working in a Nova vertical processor or in a ACP-252 Thermaphot roller machine and have no problems with both PE/RC papers.

Do you know why the difference? I understand Schoeller is the only game in town. I also read Foma uses base used by some RA4 paper producers - I know one Christal Archive paper type to be particularly thin. Any truth to that?

Hi,
This is the best I could do in trying to print a 617 neg in a 4x5 enlarger.
Lost some of the sides but still interesting. But I crave a 5x7 enlarger.

Some scans of semi recent prints :









The first three are 30x40 on FB mat paper (Ilford) and the last one is smaller RC. I really wish I had a dry mounting press as the taping to a glass pane does not work at all for me. The paper curl is too strong for the tape and I only end up with tape glue on the edges.

Lately I've been ironing them and it's not so bad if you let the prints under a giant pile of books for a few days.

(I know this isn't the best way to dry fiber prints but that's all there is at the lab, and lots of curling vs a little curling is quite the same to me; i.e it's not flat)
