I have bought several items new. Can I vote yes, or is this only one item? What is the idea behind this poll?

A 50 Summilux asph about ten years ago. A few years before that I got some money from my Dad's estate and bought several new Leica lens's. The 28 Summicron is my favorite. Also one of the last available M6 .85 cameras new in 1999. I'd rather have Dad back but it doesn't work that way. Joe

If it's been within the last 10 years, then you pick option #1. If it's been longer than 10 years, you pick option #2. If you've never bought, then option #3.

Bought an M6 new 30 years ago and a new M246 last year.
Only one of my 7 Leica lenses were new, the 90mm Tele Elmarit (1913-1983)

Not yet.

If I feel the need for a digital camera, the new SL and it's giant lens would be a nice choice. I say that mostly based on the sample images I have seen, which grabbed my attention (unlike the Sony Mark II that everyone is so excited about).

Wouldn't it be sad if I had the money to buy it, and then still found myself packing around the old M3? ;-)

It is completely out of the question price wise and I have lost interest with Leica's digital turn. I do enjoy my 50+ year old Leica equipment though.

50 Summilux ASPH
75/2 Apo-Summicron
28mm f2.8 Elmarit

The first two sold for more than I paid for them.

Yes, back in 2005. A camera store I used to frequent was selling Leica gear for 10% less than dealer invoice. I bought a new MP, 35mm Summicron Asph and a 90/2.8 Elmarit-M.

New: MP (film), M-P-240, MM, 35/2 ASPH, 50/1.4 ASPH, 75/2 ASPH

Used: M6TTL, M8.2, M9, 24/3.8 ASPH, 35/1.4 ASPH, 90/2.8 ASPH, plus LTM 3.5cm/3.5, 5cm/2, 9cm/4, & 13.5cm/4.5

Sold the M8.2 to purchase a used M9. Took advantage of the Leica Upgrade and traded the M9 (bad sensor) for the M-P 240. Still have the rest but at some point will sell it off as the eyes continue to age and autofocus becomes a need. ..... not just quite yet.

Yes. One camera, the ME, and just 2 lenses, the 21SEM and the T's 18-56 zoom. There's so much quality used equipment available it's hard for me to justify buying anything new anymore.

New, starting in 1967:
35 Summicron v.1, 90 Tele-Elmarit, 28 Summicron, 35 Summilux Asph, 50 Apo Summicron, 70 Summarit-S, 100 Summicron-S, M8, M9, M240, S2

Used:
M2, M8, 21 Elmarit Asph, 35 Summarit-S

Obviously I've not avoided buying new, but often at special pricing like this year's 12% currency exchange benefit, same in a previous year buying from UK, "demo" pricing, new-old-stock, etc.

Does a "never used collector's item" count? No, it does not. It was "only" a 1980 M4-P, bought in 2010.

50 Lux-ASPH (Turned out to be a lemon. Replaced after 8 months by Leica).
CM.
M7? I think one of them may have been a 'demo.' Does that count?

In 1979 I bought a Leica M4-2, Leitz 28/2.8 Elmarit, and a Leitz 21/3.4 Super Angulon. Not at the same time. I bought a Leica M8 when they came out, and then three years later a demo Leica M9.

M7, 90 cron, 35 cron, 28 from, 50 lux. Funny, as much as I look at used kit. The only thing I have bought used is an M6.
