I tried an XA once and had real problems not to put my fingers all over the lens, too small for me
But now...

Hear hear !!! Many times I don't even use a finder at all and that makes it even more compact.

I'll agree that the Contax T would be my choice. Those are a couple of nice shots Brett but I remember yours being black not silver... Ha Ha. It's a sweet little camera. I've looked around a bit for one but they seem hard to find and not inexpensive either. For years I used the original Canon APS Elph. Not a rangefinder and not the best image quality but amazingly small and discreet.

The dial only goes to 1600 on my 35S.
Anyhow, I don't enjoy using cameras which are only "good" instead of "excellent."
The XA is good. The Rollei 35 (Sonnar and Tessar), Contax T, and Minilux are excellent, IMO.

hey, are you calling me a liar! why I oughtta...
but yeah, my BLACK Contax T has an amazingly sharp lens.. I sold my Oly Stylus Epic after comparing its results to the Contax
now I need to find a pocketable digicam with comparable image quality and very little shutter delay

I took some measurements and did some tests a month or two ago. One apparently *can* safely use a CL body with a collapsed 50mm f2 folding Summicron. There's at least .150" clearance between the meter arm's most forward part and the lens's most rearward part while collapsed and backed-in, if I remember correctly.
Got a dial caliper?

I shot a lot with the F10 - great pocket digicam and great black and white mode at wide angle. Soft at tele. Here's a b&w sample.

Thanks! It was a fun camera while it lasted. You know those short-term digital love affairs. :-)
I am waiting for my scanner to arrive to post some G1 and Canonet shots from the same area. The biogon would kill this one!

I used to have a Ricoh GR1s - lovely body, excellent 2.8/28 lens. One of the very few cameras I ever bought new. Ultimately shutter lag and winding noise led me to sell it. The flash is useless indoors too (helps for fill-in).
But the form factor is ideal (slimmer than a film canister on 3/4 of the width) and ergonomics are fine (for an AF P&S).
If you like 28mm, don't mind the whining winding and have a bigger wallet than your pocket (they don't come cheap, even used), try one.
The bespectacled should avoid the first release (plain GR1) as it tends to scratch glasses.

My Agfa Karat IV is a pretty sweet pocket cam. I really like how nice and sharp the lens is. My particular example has a sluggish RF unit, though.

Never shoot a GR1 in a church. Particularly during prayer!
Imagine how lovely the GR1 would be with the XA2`s viewfinder... (wistful sigh). I think the world looks better through it whether taking piccies or not.

No offense intended, but I'd not shoot a photograph in a church during services unless I had explicit permission from the priest or minister to do so and a good reason besides.
Best Regards,

The permanent fixture in my pocket is the QL17 GIII, but I am on the lookout for a Voigtlander VF101.

I almost always have a Zorki 1 with a collapsible I-50. It easily fits in my jacket pocket, or my hip pocket when I walk. It is also small enough to carry in my hand.
If I feel the need for speed, or metering, I take my Canonet QL17 GIII.

Same here, though currently with an I-22. A Summaron 35/f3.5 is on its way. For speed, I'll be adding a 50/f2.0 to my collection real soon. Metering is a small (though not tiny) hand meter. Maybe I should get the tiny Voigtländer 2 accessory shoe meter, but that's very low on my priority list.
Peter.
