I purchased the M4 with the release guard already on. It was installed by DAG. The service receipt came with the camera.

Gotta say I envy you guys meeting like that. It's not that I'm not happy to have met the members I did meet, I'd just really like to meet some more folks from the forum!
Oh well, back to the Leica M's:

Congrats Johan, that is a very nice set ...oh and why not make it a Dutch or Dutch Belgium meet up next time, most of us are living nearby

Odd camera. Did DAG also install the flash-bracket alignment lug?

These are not present on normal M4-s. Your camera is likely an M2 that survived an accident and had the damaged top and associated bits and pieces changed to M4 spec by owner's request.

Or an M4 in an early M3 double stroke body shell. Those were without preview lever and self timer as well, IIRC.

I'm thinking this was an MD... as the film spool is all M4. including the sticker. There is no evidence of a self timer or preview lever ever existing on the body shell. Rather odd misfit, but it found a good home.

My new and daily M3. If anyone interested, I'd trade my Russar with finder for a 50mm Leitz lens in M mount.

Nice work Joe. The new covering makes it look like it just came off the assembly line.
