I had GAS when I came to RFF close to three years ago... I had bought -and thought it was going to be the only one- my first RF lens: the CV 15 in M mount, and the reason for getting it is that there was (is) nothing like it in the whole world... And I got another unique piece for it: the R4M.

Then I felt real GAS, and wanted to feel the experience behind close to 10 cameras and 10 lenses... I experienced what other photographers felt with old cameras... I know for sure they are different and very interesting, and their ways make us think differently and make richer our perception of light and photography, so I feel great about having felt GAS... On last year GAS disappeared, though... I don't want any camera or lens...

Cheers,

Juan

I have GAS and I don't like it at all, I hope that when my Yashica 124G comes back from surgery I will be able to concentrate on taking photos and not buying stuff I really don't need no matter how cheap and desireable it might be.

At the moment my GAS is dormant, but I'm fully aware that at any moment it could awaken and unleash hell on my wallet, sleep patterns and marital bliss.

It comes and goes, I have periods of no GAS, then suddently I *need* another camera. I don't especially mind it, I don't buy much other stuff, and I buy as much as I sell, so don't lose much.

I have gear envy but no money so the "A" part of GAS is a moot point for me.
I wish i could buy more gear but otherwise I'm pretty much content with what I've got.

I'm not doing so well, but I have a solution. I set a quota of good photos I must take before I buy anything else. Sadly it usually gives me a long cooling off period.

I finally just bought the best film cameras made for the kinds of photography I'm into, and now I no longer have GAS. In the digital realm, I dumped all of my high-end digital gear and now just see digital cameras as throw-away items, so here utility rules. As long as I have a digital camera that can do the job, no GAS there either.

The last year I was in the way of no more stuff, only my M2 and the 50/1.8.
I bought an Elmar 2.8, a Rolleiflex and a Pentax 67.

This year I'm in the way of no more stuff again.

I have a bit of GAS for a Fuji GF670 (or Bessa III), I've owned one before and regret selling it, but I know I should really take more photos that just buying gear. I expect I'll end up buying one sooner or later though.

I used to suffer from severe GAS attacks.
But no longer.
I only have a mild form of GAS now.

I would have GAS if I presently had an income to spend on cameras.

I have GAS, but it's currently in a form of remission. I am buying things but only inexpensive things (with the exception of one recent mid-price purchase in the hundreds, not thousands). Things which are a bit of fun.

That means that I have a bunch of inexpensive things which probably add up to the cost of one expensive thing that I'd no-doubt like to own. But I think I'm having more fun with the inexpensive stuff.

For serious use, I have a good digital SLR kit and film M-mount kit which are pretty much complete for my use, which suit my purposes and which I use when shooting on purpose rather than mucking-about.

Sure, I lust after an M9. I may even get one some day, but that's probably a long way off. Does it count as GAS if you want but don't buy?

I just wish that there were more of me, to use all the cameras that my GAS wants me to buy. As it is, I have more than I will ever use consistently, which makes any GAS attack feel silly.

Equipped with an MP and an M9, GAS attacks have gone down dramatically.

For me, it comes and goes...right now I'm mostly clear of any symptoms but that can change.
When I first came here to RFF, I churned through a lot of cameras and lenses. By doing so, I have (mostly) worked out what works for me. There are still some things I've not used yet but the imperative to acquire them is not too strong...now.
My next big purchase will be a car but that isn't a fun prospect for me--I just need basic transport and don't really have the $ to spend on anything exciting.
After that, I may start looking with lust at cameras/lenses again.

You'll be a fair bit older, and hopefully a fair bit wiser, by 21012 ... ! ;-)

2011 into the beginning of 2012 was a fairly expensive stretch of equipment buying (GPS, not GAS), but I'm done now. I might yet buy another lens this year but I doubt it as I'm very satisfied with the gear I'm using and selling off the stuff I'm not.

. . . . . I should live so long!

and i'm sure the gear would be a bit different . . . . .

My GAS did return with a vengence towards the end of February when I came across a beautiful Mamiya 7 II with a 80mm lens. There is also a 43 and 50mm lens available available to add a wide with the 80 . . . . .

GAS, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
