Canon LTM My painted Model P

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Bill, the P looks awesome in OD green with black trim. The Gossen Luna-Pro meter in the foreground on the third image looks larger than the camera.

Rather than replacing the leatherette with new OD material and matching the paint color exactly to it(!), I assume that he repainted the leatherette along with everything else. If so, does that really work, or is there risk of the paint flaking off the leatherette with wear, more so than the leatherette's original dyed color would do?

That viewfinder retention leash makes sense...easy to make...what material did you / somebody use? I'll try braided bowstring serving thread (almost like kevlar)...

You have a beautiful P, Bill.
Did the "painter" first remove the chrome before applying the new color?

$300 falls between a $600 Shintaro job and a $150 Texas job.

Well you spotted the only flaw-through my (volunteer) translator, I asked that the vinyl be left black, but somehow it came back painted OD. I guess if it starts to flake, I'll just send it to Morgan to recover in black.

Yes--he did, except the lugs, which I easily and deliberately scraped the paint off before I used it the 1st time.

BTW-I took these pics of the P on a coffee shop table at the Korean War Museum w/ my Fuji F30. One of these days, I'm gonna get/ build a lightbox and take some better photos of the P and all my cameras/ lenses.

who did it? it looks great.

Sorry, I don't know who did it. Just a guy in Seoul who mainly does Leicas. I "discovered" him thru my ace and super-nice repair guy. Black and OD are standard colors--other colors are extra, but he can do them too.

Thanks for all the kudos!

There's a guy in TX who would do it for $150? Could you give more details? It's something I might actually be able to afford.

AFTER I lost a VC 50 VF (ouch!), I decided to use a home-made "retainer" made from small diameter elastic cord that comes w/ cheap, generic lens caps made here in Korea. It often gets in the way, but it sure beats losing another VF.
