Your favorite 35mm glass?

My favorite 35mm lens is Summicron 35/2 v3 which seems to be the least popular in all Summicron 35/2 generations. Mine is at Sherry's at the moment and I'm dying to start using it again.

I use 3 35mm lenses: Nokton 1.2, Biogon 2.0 and Summaron 2.8. The Nokton is the low light king, the Biogon is the lens I take on my ZI if I only can have one camera one lens combo, and the Summaron is the lens I use if I go around shooting street or landscape in good light.

Coelacanth, the v3's bokeh isn't anything like what one would get from the v2 Summicron.

kxl, i like that Nokton!

mfogiel, between the biogon and the summaron, it's a toss-up. i'd give a slight nod towards the biogon =)

I tend to be more of a 50 person than a 35 person. That said, I've owned a few 35's. I'm probably happier overall with my current 35/2.5 Skopar than with any.

I'm "seeing" what u mean, William, about that nice Skopar :)
For me, the 35mm is my "normal." Here's a photo from my favorite 35mm, the v4 Summicron:

Nokton 35mm f1.2 ... it's big and heavy with a great focusing action ... if there's ever been a more significant 35mm lens released by any manufacturer for such a premium price I'd be surprised!

CV Ultron 35mm f/1.7

I like it because it's not too contrasty and performs very well at f/2 for low light too. Plenty examples of my Flickr pages (click picture above.)

The Canon 35/2. It's very compact, a great performer in color and b&w, and 1/4-1/3 the price of any Summicron.

Presently the W-Nikkor 3.5cm F1.8 LTM for it's versatile speed and medium contrast for super B&W details (using it with Epson R-D1S) and vintage color look. I simply love this lens.

Me, too. Vintage color look on film as well. Believe this was Reala 100:

And of course the 35/1.4 SC

These are my only 35mm lenses. Well, I also have an MC copy of the Nokton :)

Roland, that first image is smashing with the muted colours!!! Looks like a still image from a Fellini movie :)

M-Hexanon 35/2 is a very good lens:

but CV Nokton 35/1.2 is my favorite still:

with CV 35/1.7 Ultron and 40/2 Minolta Rokkor not far behind them.

Thanks, Thomas !

Krosya,

it only occured to me recently that the 35/1.7 might be optically derived from the M-Hex 35/2. Since you own both, would be great to see a comparison :)

Well, I suppose I could do that when time permits. But I'd like to know what would you like to see in it? Sharpness, bokeh? Give me some ideas.
