Alexander Lapin R.I.P.

Very, very sad news. Alexander Lapin, a well known russian photographer, writer and teacher died in Moscow yesterday at the age of 67. Quoting one of the russian newspapers: "Lapin alone replaced all schools of thinking in Russian photography that never existed".

He wrote a great book "Photography as..." devoted to theoretical and philosophical aspects of photography. Sometimes it seemed to me great, sometimes controversial as well as his lectures I listened to.
To my regret he is almost unknown in the US and Western Europe. You can find some fragments of his book translated into English here:

Interesting person, I've lucked out attending his lectures couple of years ago.
