   M6 black repaint

Asking Price Shipping Amount Condition
$1,500.00 None Excellent
Description:

For sale is a M6 - Serial number 174xxxx - Manufactured in 1988.

This beautiful "big" M6 was entirely overhauled and repainted by Kanto Camera Service in 2012 and it is still as smooth as new.

Everything is in perfect working order. Shutter times spot on, RF perfectly aligned, precise meter, crystal clear VF and perfect RF patch. The paint is in mint conditions and has no signs of brassing yet.

The only thing to mention for the sake of precision is a slight darkening in the left vertical bright line. I had it checked by Kanto and the answer is that it's not worth doing anything about it and it's not going to get worse by any means.

I am selling it to found a black paint M4 (you know the song).

The overhaul repaint service at Kanto is usually around 1000USD.

The asking price is 1500USD, firm, including insured shipment worlwide with fast courier.

Not interested in offers or trades.

A great price, too. I'm curious to know how Kanto Camera managed to repaint a zinc top plate. AFAIK, only the M6 Titanium has brass top plate which has regular inscriptions.

I've got the same question asked many times but I've bought the camera 2 years after the OH so I don't know about the details of the repaint procedure itself. You may try to drop them an email if you're keen to, there a person in their staff that can speak very good English.

Looks like a powder coating. No issues with that on zinc, but it is not going to brass unless it's really abused. Smile

OK, I'll ask.  What Nikon lens is that?  What camera did it come from?

Thanks!

The lens is a Nikkor 35/2.5 (Nikonos version) converted to M by MS Optical.

Best,

G.

I remember seeing your georgous camera on TCS awhile back. Stunning! If I had the dough, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat! They did an amazing job. GLWS!
