Wow, those are beautiful! The big one has a strange sharp and fuzzy look to it, is it HDR?

Thanks Chris that's much appreciated.

Its not HDR as I have never really used that technique. But I can say that the photos were made a couple of years back and I cant recall exactly what I did. I suspect I used a local contrast filter to bring out the texture and detail in all the leaves and twigs etc then applied a "glow" or diffusion filter to soften it again - which goes well with the backlit mist. (There was genuinely a lot of mist on that day.) Doing it that way may seem odd - bringing out detail then reducing it again but it gives more control over the final result.

Really old one from my gallery. I have bunches more, coastal Maine gets fog at all times of the year, you better learn to like it.

And a "new" one for good measure. Taken in 2009, scanned just now. It's really mostly smoke from a wildfire on the North Rim but I assure you there was a wisp of morning fog somewhere ;)
