Had the Nikon AF-S 24-85, I think it was a great lens, perhaps not the best lens in MTF graphs or for taking pictures of brick-walls...but it's a great walk-around lens!

The XD-7 with a 28/2 a 35/1.8 and a 50/1.4 are not that expensive-and there a less 'cult-folowers' (not inteded as an insult...)as with Nikon/Leica/Olympus...

Only the first 100 Leica M4-2's did have an red dot (as seen in the post of Gabriel). Chrome M4-2's were made later...-so I think you can assume it is not genuine...
