2019 roadtrip, day 13

On day 13 we drove away from Bergen direction Oslo and overnighting in Geilo.

Part of the journey was in a cloudy misty day but sometimes the sun tried to appear...

For me it was one of the most interesting route we drove.

Day 14, on the way back. From Norway to Sweden. It was a rainy day on the road, luckly weather changed when we arrived in Goteborg.

In my mind a roadtrip is somehow related to my imagine of America (this is because of the many books I read about it and the many roadmovies I saw!) so why not to stop for lunch is an american place!

Just now catching up with this journey.

Robert, you and your lovely wife are invited to have dinner with us on a future road trip to the US. American cuisine. Southern specialties included!

And, robert, you would also be very welcome to visit in California. I might head out with you for a piece of the journey.

Sheesh, I love road trips. I'm a dedicated addict to reading Jack Kerouac's On the Road...

In a few days I'll have a small exhibiton of my Polaroid work. One section will be dedicated to this journey. Therefore I decided to use one of the pictures for the flyer.

"IMPERFECT MOMENTS"

emotions from a roadtrip, a wabi-sabi story, memories and daily life viewed through the Polaroids by robert k.rehmann

my photozine is ready!

It took some time but now it's ready!

I selected one photo for each day of the trip, mixing color and B&W, new and expired film, sharp and ...not so sharp! Because memories are not always sharp

Now it is available and you can preview it at the following link. Of course if you like you can also purchase :-)

https://it.blurb.com/b/9709072-imperfect-moments

Here is how the cover looks like !

They say it rains daily in Bergen, Norway. We spent a few days there and weather was not bad, we had some rain but not too much. Anyway it was a good excuse for my wife to buy a beautiful raincoat !

It is useful now in the rainy italian autumn days !

I remind you can preview my Polaroid zine here!

I'm a little bit late in posting, but the 2019 roadtrip is not yet finished !

When we drove back we spent a few days in Berlin.
This is day 17 of our trip.

This is in Fasanenstrasse not far form the Leica Shop...I was in the same place 10 year ago (wow, time flies!) and took a similar photo with my M7 and Ilford Delta 400 film. If you are curious here it is:

When you are on the road for many days it's essential to have a good companion on your side. I was lucky to have my wife with me , here waiting when I was tanking, and also Raid and his wonderful family have been very good traveler companions.

I like both images, Robert. It was the building that was close to our hotel. Remind me what was special about it.

The weather in Berlin was beautiful, but very hot. From the 13 °C of the Norway we had to confront ourselves wit the 34 °C of Berlin.

Therefore it was nice to think of the cold days in Norway, like day 13 between Bergen and Oslo with the snow on the siode of the road!

Photo taken with my old Polaroid sx-70 and an expired Impossible B&W film!

I'm a photographer but there is a painter inside myself

i took this on the small island in Gol but the light was low therefore a long exposure time and the blurred look.

Thanks for your comment.

All exquisite work once again, Robert! I love coming back to this thread to see what new jewels you've posted.

I'm in the middle of completely changing my image processing workflow now, haven't touched a camera or printed a photo in what seems like forever. Looking at your Polaroid photos keeps me going.

Going back home we spent a few days in Berlin, wonderful exciting city. Only the temperature difference compared to the one we experienced a couple of days before was quite shocking! From 14°C to 34°C in two days ...

Last time I updated this thread we were in the center of Berlin with many shops around.

In the same area there is the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church which was heavily damaged during WWII and after many discussions and ideas was left as it was, like a lesson for all of us.

I decided to shoot only one photo and keep it, good or not. It seemed me a sign of respect, not sure why. But sometimes what I feel is more important to me than technical quality.

Well done. As for making just one photo, I share and understand your feelings although I have yet to be able to explain that feeling.

Perhaps making dozens of images, such as at a tourist spot, somehow cheapens the experience. Similarly, I don't want to see copies of Van Gogh paintings on a postage stamp.

On the wayback to Italy we found this church on the side of the motorway, In the beginning I was disappointed by this photo. Later I showed it to my drawing teacher and he liked very much because resembles in a certain way a simple charcoal sketch.
