FED3 shutter tensioning failed

Hello,
I have a FED3 in otherwise very fine condition that I shot three rolls with but now on the fourth the shutter tensioning seems to have failed.
I can keep turning the lever and it does not seem to get tensioned. Also before failure, the shutter time knob got out of sync with the markings. I shook it off thinking the small screw must have been untightened.
Is this a known problem? Is there a DIY fix?

And no, I have not set the shutter time without having the shutter tensioned. Knew about this peculiarity all the time. But I bought it from a fleemarket and do not know what has been done to it before.

One FSU repair person note about getting FED-3 re-hauled was ... "you'll need nerves made from steel, but if you will make it, camera will serve as reliable".

Have you lens off and looked inside? It might have explanation for the problem visible. And it might sounds like re-haul.

Oh, FED-3 isn't as bad as Zorki. You could change shutter speed at any time.
Link to the manual to prove it.

My guess is something is jamming the release rod, it could be film trash, or just needs lubrication.

Well, shutter curtains and ribbons are still attached. It is somewhere in film/shutter advance gears.

If you press and turn the shutter release button it locks the button in release mode and the transport will turn and turn...

Not really a DIY repair, the camera needs an overhaul. In general, I do not think most users should touch the shutter curtain tension adjustments , and in the case of a FED, correct tension is only around 3-1/2 turns per I. Maizenberg. When the camera is working correctly, that's all that's required.
