I'm calling "fake news" on that freezer photo. Notice there's no film at all in there!

Interesting that people don't photograph the commonplace and then there's no record of it when the Govt or vandals have destroyed it.

"The commonplace" seems like a good description of this idea!

Now I really start to dig the idea behind that thread.
Still, the big question is, how to take a picture of a "commonplace" to keep it common. Because taking a picture of anything is a way of making it special.

How about things you see everyday and never photograph?

Years ago I did a series taken as I walked from St Pancras to the City as I did every day of the year (unless it was raining). Nothing special but you should see the changes. I also did one of us doing the weekly shopping, and so on...

Wow, thanks Rob! Taken with Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 or 35/2.8 (can't remember which), PL filter
Cheers,

Love this thread. Take a look at Making Do and Getting By by Richard Wentworth for an interesting take on this theme.

I'm seeing several shots that far exceed "nothing special." I see some that are good enough to frame and hang on the wall.
