I wonder what it looks like shot at ISO200. The shadow detail seems to be limited, which makes me wonder if it's not really ISO400 in most developers.

For whatever it's worth, I tend to overexpose by one stop, and then develop normally. But I also shoot a lot indoors in what some might call crap lighting.

Its data sheet is pretty sparse, but I wonder if, like Eastman Double-X (its so-called b&w cine film brother or maybe cousin), ORWO N74+ has a lower exposure index in tungsten compared to daylight. Kodak rates Eastman Double-X as 250 in daylight, and 200 in tungsten (3200K).

That's absolutely gorgeous Dourbalister (so are all your other photos). The OOF areas are made even more beautiful by the low contrast graininess of the film.

Time to give Orwo a try (well, when I've got slightly more important things out of the way!).

Apart from that have a Rolleiflex 3.5F, the odd Minolta XD7, Hasselblad 500cm, a Topcon Super D and an Intrepid 5x4 large format (not the half of it but I am clearing them out, honest).

I do all my own black and white developing at home.

Thank you, Charles, appreciate the kind words. I think the contrast in the image is a combination of the film and the lens wide open. The headlight has some fine details in the glass, so I wanted to see how the lens performed at f/1.2. There's a touch of softness, yet enough sharpness and detail to read the "sealed beam" lettering.
