Buy land, employ people to build homes on the said land, rent out homes to those in need of homes away from our perverted social housing points system. Take the profits from homes to buy more land and employ more people and keep that part going on a smaller scale. Divert some away to pay for student fees on both the BA and MA photography programs at my old collage for disabled students, if none apply for the photo program then cover one on the art or other linked courses. Have a continuous donation to a school in Arusha, Tanzania that we have some limited involvement with. Finally take an income for myself about £50k $75k or about that and get a custom build camper van to travel for a while.

I would quit my job to invest in a factory making peel apart b/w 4x5 pack film. And then two years later beg for my job back.

If I won that kind of money... - Secure retirement with a good investment firm that handles these kinds of amounts.
- Set up trusts to ensure the financial stability of closest family.
- Donate to appropriate charities both in Australia and abroad, particularly animal welfare, and stay the hell away from politics.
- Probably move to another state and start another life, or sufficiently far from the usual areas so no one knows who I am. There's security in anonymity.
Now for the cameras part. - Invest in my education and go back to school for fine art photography, and cinematography.
- Buy a relatively future proof mid-high range cinema camera like a Canon C300 Mark II or RED Weapon or Epic Dragon, preferably something I can operate on my own.
- Get some appropriate lenses like a set of Leica Summilux or Summicron C cinema primes, and a set of Cooke S5/i's.
- Track down a mint condition anthracite Leica MP with Leicavit and buy a shedload of film, plus freezer bins for storage. This will be my primary film camera.
- Upgrade digital with the M10-P and a Nikon Z7
- Go on long road and interstate trips to shoot and film landscapes and other natural marvels.
- Do a lot of international travel for photography and film making.
- Otherwise, I'd live much as I do now, pretty frugally with a normal car and normal clothes.

I'd find a darkroom artist and put him on permanent retainer to take care of all my developing and printing needs.

My first thoughts were to give each brother and sister snd their children enough money to secure their financial future. Set up trust funds for the children. Invest most of the money and live off the interest.

Very nice, Keith!
I think my wife and I would build some homeless shelters, or a village of those "little houses" for the homeless, or simply some affordable housing.
I would buy a place in Colorado. Silverton, or Durango, maybe Denver.
I would buy Raid an M10. And, I think, one for myself.

I'm chuckling at the karma people who thought that by saying they would do good with the money, would up their chances. I guess karma knew they were really going to squander it.

A bit hard not having the ticket and being out of the US.
Although early 20s, the idea of retirement isn't bad! Actually I'd do quite a few ventures and invest; after solving some diverse issues.

I bought yesterday (actually my wfe did) two tickets; one for yesterday and one for today.
We lost yesterday in the drawing for $1.6b. Maybe we will win today a few hundred million Dollars?

I have never bought a lottery ticket.
The one and only lottery I was involved with was the draft lottery held in 1969. I was a real winner with number 20 (some may say loser!). I got so drunk that night I couldn’t register for my last semester of under grad the next day. A friend did it for me.

This was a surprisingly useful article about what to do: https://www.boredpanda.com/what-to-d...ry-blakeclass/
In short: Get a lawyer (or team of lawyers, honestly); give to friends/family only through trust funds, not actual cash; and use very safe Treasury bill-based index funds to pay yourself a sensible annual "wage." And probably go into hiding for a year or so too.
I live in Silly-Con Valley. People with this kind of money, and more, are not so uncommon here. Sadly, I'm not one of them.

Travel, especially to all the gallery vernissages (opening nights) I could physically get to. Also to a lot of thermal springs.
Whatever's left when I pop my clogs (or Frances pops hers, if I go first) goes to our daughter.
She's a sensible young woman: she can decide where the rest goes.
Cheers,
R.

I reckon most of us have had a narrow escape as money only brings problems...
Seems about 70% of lottery winners go bankrupt within 5 years.
Regards, David

Well everyone is entitled to his opinion, even if mine is a bit twisted.

I had today some thoughts about the $1.6 Billion. Why not have it instead 1000 winners of $1.6 Million. Really ... why not? More people will be happy. $1,600,000
is a lot of money. Or, 1,000,000 winners of $1,600.

There are other tiers of winners... that`s just the top prize. Based on odds, you can`t make it easy to win. It wasn`t won in a long time, that is why it was so high.

It`s a nice thought, but then nobody would play...
http://www.megamillions.com/winning-numbers
According to that...there were 36 $1,000,000 winners this time...
