Sticky frame lines on my M6 TTL

Hey all,

Strange issue: at times, the frame lines on my M6 "stick". When I switch manually using the preview lever, the previously selected lines are still very faintly visible, or the frame lines refuse to change altogether. The problem usually goes away when I take the lens off and put it back on.

When I try the preview lever without a lens mounted, the metal tab in the lens mount moves correctly, so it's not the lever or the tab.

I'm guessing something is gummed up inside. Since I only really use a 50mm it's not an urgent problem, but if this is something that will worsen and/or is a symptom of something more serious, I'd rather be sure sooner than later.

They do that. A couple of mine do it, and so do several of the five Leicas that a friend inherited. It's a cheap, easy repair, and a perfect illustration of the truth that the worst thing to do to a Leica is not to exercise it. Yes, it will get stickier (or it may free up with exercise -- keep moving the lever) but it's not a symptom of anything worse. Except lack of exercise.

Cheers,

R.

It's not a quick repair on M6TTL, due to electronics..
Cost was close to $200 in Toronto at Kinderman.

Good grief! Sorry for the misleading advice. I'm surprised, though.

Cheers,

Are you using a native M mount lens, or an LTM lens with LTM-M adapter?
I have had this issue with adapted lenses, and trying different adapters helped.

As a matter of fact, I did try an LTM adapter with 28-90 lines.
