Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable."

Just bought the Paul Fusco photo. I've seen a number of the RFK funeral train photographs before and always found them captivating. The motorcycle really sold it for me.

I can't decide if this is a good deal or not but there are several I'm tempted by - particularly the Antoine d'Agata and the Martin Parr, from his second roll on the Plaubel Makina he shot "The Last Resort" on.
Thanks for the heads up (and the link too). I went through them several times and found a quartet that will look great together. I'll add one of my own when I set up a presentation ... Four Magnum Photographers And Me. :-)

I received my Parr print today(west coast, near San Francisco.)
I'm happy with the quality of it for $100. It was packed professionally, too.

So how do you guys display these Magnum photos?
How about a snapshot of how they look on your wall?

Thanks for posting. I'm always concerned they e gotten lost or delivered to the wrong address. How were they sent, FedEx, ups or postal service? Did you have to sign for them?

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to getting them.

I noticed that.
I still can pitch my idea, right? Not like I put a deadline on it or anything.

Oh ok...just wanted to make sure it was apparent. I'll most likely just keep mine in storage... or in a book.

So, what courier service was used?

I received notices from Magnum that my prints are on the way now. If you haven't yet received a notice, you should within the next two weeks.

I received a USPS tracking number on Friday, but it appears that they haven't actually sent mine out yet.

Mine is stuck in German customs. Knowing their inefficiency, I will have it in about two weeks - maybe.

My prints arrived today.

They're beautifully done, very pleased. They're printed on a very nice fiber satin paper and would be hard to tell from a silver gelatin print. There's a label on the back and signed in ink on the back. I ordered the Elliot Erwit and Bruce Davidson prints. Two of my favorite photographers.

I also received my order today. Very well packaged and very nice to behold. I ordered the Bruce Davidson and Alex Webb prints, very nice. And no, the prints do not seem small at all.

Raid,

Yes, the Magnum Square Print sale was a limited time offer. I first saw it discussed here on June 8 and noted that it was scheduled to close on June 13. I barely made my selection and submission before the deadline; they took down the page by the 14th.

Hopefully, they'll do other such offers in the future. I'm glad I was able to act on this one.

Wish I had acted on the sale when I saw it in June.

Maybe next time.

Does anyone know how often Magnum has these sales? I recall missing one a couple years ago.

Wish I'd bought one now...

Having started the thread I'm glad a few people did buy and like their prints though. Will be keeping an eye out for the next one.
