Adobe DNG Converter for Sigma SD Quattro DNG files?

I just read something interesting on Lloyd Chambers' blog. He suggests that running the Sigma SD Quattro's large DNG files through Adobe's "DNG Converter" software cuts the file size by 50% or more! Apparently without loss of data!

Anyone here tried this? I'm interested because I don't want to bother with Sigma's raw converter (WAY too slow) and I don't like loading up my hard drive with the 120Mb Sigma DNG files.
