Very interesting, Koolzak, I will try soon a LED-lamp in my Focomat IIc. I want to see the effect of the color of the light on the Adox variable contrast paper.

I'm glad I subscribed to this thread, Erik, because your work is always so enjoyable. The shot of the old lady was very well seen. I'm not sure why the three guys are so intent on fixing their car, though. I'd be more concerned about the pedestrian they've just run over. Haha.

I like the push bikes gang photo, the sandy road and the background reminds me of Polish villages I visited some years ago.

Thank you Pan, it is not Poland, but Belorussia, in 2001.

also ran out of 8x10 paper mid session so I had to print this on 5x7. It's too bad but now I get to pick whatever fresh 8x10 I'd like! I don't know if I want to go warmtone or keep with the neutral paper and rock the PQ universal.

Actually found the PQ Universal to have more of a warm tone than the ilford warmtone developer. Really like the look I get from it.

After lurking around a lot I've finally given in and started my improvised little darkroom. Had a lot of fun getting started with this and now I'm really looking forward to start getting a bit more systematic about everything and learning about all sorts of things.
On that note: this thread is really inspiring

pmiller, it looks like you're off to a good start. I'm just about to begin my printing session today (in my bathroom/darkroom). It's the most fun I'll have all weekend, without a doubt!

Yes the black & nickel Leica III are very smooth and reliable cameras. Would be my choice on a world tour.

Beautiful work, Deardorff.

Leica M4-2, 50mm Summicron, Tri-X, Ilford Ilfospeed Paper

I feel like I am slowly but surely progressing towards knowing what I am doing it least somewhat what I am actually doing. Also I've started to work a little more systematically and documenting what I am doing and what results I am getting. Waiting for further delving into something new is my first ever pack of multigrade paper and the required filters.

It feels really great to constantly learn new things and a lot of the work here is quite motivating to push forward on this

Of course whenever you present chickenwire in the right context and maybe use a more or less fancy camera to take a photograph of it becomes all the more amazing

I got to start using my new darkroom in the attic - a bit small, a bit damp, but okay for one person
For start i got a bunch of old-ish bw paper and i decided to run a project to learn and exercise.
So i took some negs from 10-20 years ago that have my 5 friends (still bachelors/kidless) and i took some recent negs from a year ago from a weekend we spent together with kids wives husbands and all, and i printed for each family 28 prints in 5x7", half the old ones half the new ones.
Planning to mail them out as surprise.
See the stacks old/new below.

The "old" ones i printed on old brovira-speed, these were a little bit fogged and they also have a creamy base, not today's bright white. The images also ended up lower contrast this way. The "new" ones i printed on kentmere fineprint fiberbased which has a much higher default contrast (without using the VC feature). This also from the practical reasons that i did not have more than 100 sheets of the same type
Flattening the fiberbased ones now under some heavy books.

The cat was fascinated by this activity unseen before.

It wasn't so long ago that I made my first ever enlargements and now I'm already getting used to a new enlarger. My Durst F30 was a nice little beginners enlarger, but sadly it was also defective (focussing didn't work, I basically had to push or pull lens up and down). However it showed me that I wanted to doo more of this, so now I went all in and I'm getting used to working with a Focomat Ic. Haven't gotten to do a lot with it yet, but it's a joy to use

Seem to be having issues with the blacks scanning very weirdly here - They are fine in person!

A classic shot, Erik. This thread should be renamed in your honour. Have you given any thought to producing a book of your photographs?

Erik, your sense of tone is exquisite and consistent. Low contrast, but somehow far from flat. Like a smooth, gentle voice. We are fortunate to experience your work, even if by pixels.

Thank you, I think this tonality is the effect of the split-grade method of printing.
