Neat article and in ways a film vs digital thing:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/01/n...gtype=Homepage

I found this quote revealing:

“It was odd,” Mr. Cenicola said, “because there would be people with SLRs or point-and-shoot cameras taking pictures with their phone.”

Okay, that was fun. Thanks for posting.

Since we're a rangefinder forum, let's see if we can identify the rangefinder and lens the gentleman was using back in 1951:

Best,
-Tim

I say the RF camera is a Leica III or IIIa, he does not seem to be at the age to buy a Tower 3 from Sears.

Lens is either a Summar or maybe a Summitar , I am leaning more to the Summar.

Always one of my first thoughts, as well. But, as nice looking as the clothes of that period were, I wouldn't want to wear them. So uncomfortable.

I like articles and stories like this, and was watching a story where a person researched aerial photos from WWI along the Western Front, and re-flying the identical route, and finding many features of war remaining today.
I was born in 1951, my mother dressed me more comfortably than those in the above picture.

I have lots of family photos from this era, and besides the clothes people were, well, not so fat.
