Go Back   Rangefinderforum.com > Cameras / Gear / Photography > Being a Photographer > Photogs / Photo Exhibits

Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable."

(ps: anyone know how to modify themes to make images appear larger? I can't seem to get mine any wider than 500 pixels...)

It depends on what theme you have. Some themes have the option in "Appearance" to increase the width of the posts. If the option is not there you'll have to go to "theme" and at the bottom it says "use custom html" you then have to search for the pixel width in the CSS code and modify it to the dimensions that you want. (mine is currently at 700px) Command (or ctrl on pc) F will help you find it faster.

Also, the "NEXT" page button on your tumblr is invisible. You should fix that first.

On a non-design related note. I enjoyed your shots

I used to use wordpress but I find tumblr to be better for my needs because I get a lot more traffic based on the ability to tag things. (similar to flickr/twitter) Also tumblr makes it easier for other users to reblog your posts and automatically credits and links back to your tumblr in the process. Which yet again gives you more random exposure. So that's why I dig it.

Noticed this picture. I was there too! On the wall across from her at the Ports 1961 show. If you don't mind me asking, who were you shooting for?

On a side note: I like your blog a lot but HATE the layout. The photos are so small it makes me cry inside because I want to see them larger without having to click every one. And I definitely think they deserve to be seen larger because you've got some winners there. Just my two cents.

My only active tumblr is not quite a photo blog, but it is a camera blog, so I'll mention it: analog in toronto. Inspired by the fantastic tokyo camera style, I thought I'd do what I could to demonstrate the growing richness of Toronto's camera community.

It's still young, but it seems to be going pretty well so far.

It gets a new post whenever I upload something to SmugMug…just a way of presenting new photos, I suppose.

Paul, Tumbler is a quick and dirty way to photo blog. Ten minutes and you are uploading photos and blogging.

Followed some of y'all already.

I wondered what the fuss is about.
And I find myself attracted to the presentation, idea, and simplicity. Unlike facebook or twitter (still don't get those).

Then I thought, why not, a picture, one thought, per day...
I'm on day 2
