Sequential

Some consecutive photos of the same subject, taken a few seconds (or months , or years) apart. From the same spot - or not. People, objects, places, whatever.
Show us how time passes…

Good prompt, Joao. I've been doing some time-lapse interior work with my DP2M:

I remember a movie:"Smoke" with Harvey Keitel. He took every morning a photo of the corner where he had a tobacco shop. The camera was a Canon AE1 he found/stole casually.
Nice movie.

Richard Youse's House in 2001

January, 2008. Mr. Youse had died and his house had been demolished. The field was expanded over the former site of the house and yard, leaving only the old windmill tower standing. It had been in the backyard, about 20 feet behind the house.

This is Richard Youse in February, 2001. He was 87 years old and lived in this ruined old house with 15 cats. His parents bought the house in 1924, and he lived there until shortly before his death in 2005. He never married or had children. His house was in the southeast part of Allen County, Indiana, near the town of Hoagland. About 15 miles from Fort Wayne, which is also in Allen county. Mr. Youse's nearest neighbor was a mile away; he owned more than 1000 acres of farmland. You can see more photos of Mr. Youse, his cats, and his home on my website:

W/NW Photo sequences

Share your sequences, any sort, any genre...

A sequence is where each image follows in a logical order or a recurrent pattern.

Duane Michals is one of the better known users of this technique, although it's equally applicable to street photography and action sequences.

Mike, that seems a lot of people waiting to photograph what looks like an ordinary train - is there something special about it? Vintage train, perhaps?

Hi Lynn,

You’re right, the train is not what’s so special it’s the Kawazu Sakura trees to the right of the train that are the attraction. The Kawazu Sakura are an early blooming variety of cherry blossom trees originally from the Izu peninsula and they bloom much earlier than the more common variety found all over Japan.

Train enthusiasts love to get the picture of the train running past the trees. The train company even slows down the trains by that short stretch of trees so that the people inside the train can enjoy viewing the blossoms. It’s actually a big deal.

Why is Godzilla so angry?

He's annoyed by all the children that use him for a slide.

In one end and out the other.

Then run back and do it again.

I was done for the day. Riding the train back home I was sitting opposite a couple little girls that were obviously very good friends. They kept laughing and having such terrific fun.

One of them said something that was so funny they convulsed with laughter.

If one could put the joy and friendship these two share into a bottle of medicine it would certainly be a cure for the blues.
