canon 35/2.8 chrome vs 35/2.8 black & chrome

has anyone had the opportunity to own/try these 2 lenses side by side?

looking at the canon museum site it appears that they are the same lens optically.
the black & chrome version is lighter in weight and has a 40mm filter size while the chrome has a 34 filter size.

i'm most interested in the contrast levels and if pics from these 2 look the same.

any info appreciated.

joe

Joe,

Sorry, I only have the black one. You can borrow it if you like though.

i'm thinking maybe of trading the chrome for a black & chrome.

but maybe that's just dumb...

If there is any difference, then the newer lens may be slightly sharper and with a bit more contrast (improved coating).
