Exclamation M3 shutter speed dial replacement

Could anyone provide any input on anywhere I might could find an original chrome M3 shutter speed dial based on the 1/100 speeds that came with early M3 cameras, not 1/125?* I contacted Dave Elwell at Leica and they no longer carry that part.* They do sell the 1/125 dial, however, I have an early M3 want to find a dial that matches what it was built with.* The previous owner of my M3 decided to put this gaudy gold looking dial on for some reason.

I wonder if Don might have one in inventory although I don't see one listed on his website:

Actually just talked to him on the phone. I had emailed him a few days ago with no response so decided to call. He said he may have something but would have to check so I guess we'll see.

Don is probably your best bet. You could check with the other big names as well: Youxin, Sherry, Gus, Kindermann, Steve in California, and those dudes in the UK (CRR Luton and ?can't remember?). I happen to have the ss dial you're after, but I have great hopes of putting my M3 back together -- some day soon

I have learned that Don greatly prefers to be called and not emailed. In fact, he once (rather perfunctorily) told me that I should call him and not email him because he cannot work while doing email -- but he can continue to work while on the phone. I think he either uses a speakerphone or a headset. Clearly its of benefit to us all to call instead of email.

So I will always call him from now on. It is interesting to hear that he has so much work he doesn't have time for email . I don't know if that's good or bad. I'm hoping its good.

I have a couple things to send him....I'm contemplating the "season effect" of shipping things during the bitter cold and icy dead of winter. I might wait until the weather improves and shipping is less dangerous all around.

While many here hate him, I’d suggest contacting Bellamy at Japan Camera Hunter. He is well connected with the Japanese repair folks who seem to have everything.

About a decade back I found one in a Leica store in Frankfurt Germany when travelling there. They had a supply of spares for sale including shutter speed dials taken from scrapped cameras and those dials were of both variants.

If you get stumped you might try emailing such stores. I do not recall which one but anticipate there are not many Leica stores in that city (though perhaps more than in most). This thread my help.

And I suspect it might have been this shop. https://www.leicastore-frankfurt.de/...dex.html?c=210
