Reflecta 10T & Pacific Image XE frame centering issue

I've been in contact with Reflecta over a faulty unit. But they say no dice.

The left side of the frame gets cut when scanning and I have to pull the feeder back a notch physically to get the frame centered with the scanning area.

It's quite clear it's not the normal procedure. Has anyone had such issues?
Might it be the feeder has faulty lock-in system? Or is it the locking system of the scanner?

I have the Reflecta 10M and sometimes have this issue. What helps a lot is if there is absolutely no leader around the edge of the first negative so that the machine is dealing with the exact length of a negative and uses this for each subsequent negative on the film strip.

Reflecta 10T has a manual feeder, you push the feeder forward and it clicks in with the locking system on all 6 frames.

Here's the locked in frame showing the fault (part of the feeder visible on the right)

Here's the feeder pulled back slightly
