Hey everyone,

After a lot of research and saving, I am ready to put in an order for a brand spankin new R3M.

However, I still can't decide if I want the Silver or the Black model.

I know, this is probably an insignificant detail to some of you... Still this is a big investment for me, and I want to make sure I make the perfect choice.

Looking online, I've only seen a couple of "real" (Not official promo shots) of the silver r3/2m.

So, does anyone here have a silver r3m that they wouldn't mind taking a quick snap shot of for me? Haha

Either way, what would you go for? Silver or black? Are there any differences in terms of materials/ durability between the two?

Thank again! :D

Be careful. Wrong choice here can really screw up your photographs.

Was that really necessary? I know this is trivial, I already said that, no need to go out of your way to be a jerk...

I think Rich was just joking around. Lets chill. All Bessas look best in black especially the R3M. Warning RF's are addicting. Enjoy.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Just a bit of sarcasm, I believe. Probably peppered with a bit of annoyance too. You see, this seems to be a discussion that comes up fairly frequently, as the other post about the very same query in the ZI forum indicated. Actually, Rich takes some mighty fine pictures if I say so myself.

Personally I've always liked black because I just happen to find the numbers on the dials easier to read when they are white on a black body. Black numbers on silver paint has never suited me well.

Though, I've sometimes wondered if a silver body would seem less intimidating to some, and so perhaps folks would be more likely to ignore you taking pictures. I think some have commented they thought so, but I imagine it really boils down to your disposition more than anything else.

Enjoy, what ever you decide!

Black black black.

I think the silver r3ms look extremely cheap in comparison to other silver cameras such as the zi or leica. The finish on a the silver r3m just looks bad i think.

Sorry. Forgot my smiley. :D

Relax a bit.

I checked out some of your pictures. very nice. What colour is your Camera? I bet its the black one. They have black camera written all over them

Who say the color is not important?
My Bessa R2 is olive, because for me looks different, inclusively I painted the side grip in olive color, after some time I became interested in the olive trigger winder, after a hard search in many stores, failed many auctions for eight months, finally got an olive trigger winder toke out from a Bessa T set. Sure, I could paint the trigger winder, but if this exist...
I also like the BLACK, if the BLACK and SILVER was the same case like Leica cameras, I choose BLACK with any doubt.
Considering that the R3M and the R2M 250th anniversary models are the only metallic bodies in silver... I go for the SILVER for sure.
I just mind if I get a SILVER R3M... to anodized the trigger winder will be the only option.
But nothing is impossible.

now you got me thinking

now you got me thinking

A girl on flickr has a pink grd covered with glitter. a guy down the street has his car covered in beer caps and sea shells, people decorate there guitars all the time. Why are cameras only black and silver? What about white cameras with a do it your self paint kit . Sounds like a good buisness plan to me. On second thought, it sounds like too much work. I will just stick with black.

There are a few blue Voigtlanders around.

Robert White has one, you can see it on their website, now imagine that with pink leather!

I have a Black R2S NHS edition and its beautiful......and I really like silver cameras. In fact as I think about it, its the only black camera I own in 35mm.

Good luck!

Aesthetical, I like silver cameras. They have class.

Practical, black. If you don't like to be noticed, black.

I want to see that pink GR-D covered in glitter :)

Personally, I prefer black, but silver is beautiful too. It's more of a 'classic' look.

I agree to go with the black. Wear a dark sweatshirt and hardly anyone on the street will even notice the black camera hanging there.
