it happen...i dropped it and now my ikon is out of alignment; however, still under warranty. what's my best option? send it in for a warranty repair(do i have to send it to germany?) or find somebody locally(sf, ca) to fix it...

If you go through zeiss I believe you're going to have to send it to their international sales dept in NJ, I would look up their phone number and give them a call. They'll tell you exactly what to do. My understanding is that if it has to be repaired they'll send it back to one of their factories in germany. You're probably looking at 3-5 weeks turn around. If it's simple adjustment that a local shop can do for you, you might want to consider doing that instead. Although you might be voiding the remaining warranty by letting someone else touch it, so I would definitely figure out the warranty terms before you let a local shop touch it.

I dropped mine once too and it was misaligned.
My thinking was that if an impulse from one direction
could misalign it then another one from the other direction would align it.
And indeed, a couple of sharp taps with my hand from the other direction
put the range finder back into alignment at infinity. Should it be so easy to misalign it and put it back into alignment? I don't know but it happened. Is it advisable to do it? I also do not know. If tapping did not work then I would have had to send it in for repair anyway. So what could I loose by trying to align it in this unusual way?

bought it from popflash...they just sent me a link to zeiss.com basically. tried to take it to one local guy that had experience with leice/hasselblad supposedly...he took a look at it and had that blank look on his face. yeah, that was a no go. anybody know of a shop in san francisco by any chance?
