My M3's shutter dial seems to be flaking out on me lately. Just about anytime I shoot at 1/125th, as soon as the curtain closes it jumps to the 1/50ths flash synch speed. If I shoot at 1/250th, every three or four frames it will jump down to 1/50th if I don't touch it.

This sound like something bad growing inside? I can deal with it right now if I stay conscious enough to fiddle with the dial between each shot, and my shutter tester confimred that it isn't making the switch until after the exposure, but if this is a precursor to complete camera failure, I should probably get it serviced.

Perhaps the ghost of a former owner is telling me I should do more flash work, since that seems to be my strongest body of work I've produced this year with it.

My m6 does this now. See my dial is broken. It doesn't have detents at each stop. It jumps most at 125 down to 50. I have yet to see how much repair is needed.
