Leica Gold M4-P with Gold 50/2 Summicron 70th Jahres

No, I´ve seen several gold M4-2 cameras but never a factory gold M4-P. How about you?

I am NIKON KIU, Soooo I don't know the difference between a Leica M4-2 or M4-P

Are you implying it may be fake?

There is still a complete set of parts available at Ebay to convert an M4-P in black / gold (with black top and base plate and golden levers etc.) but I haven't seen a set of golden top and base plates yet for the M4-P (only for the M4-2)...

I'd be put off by the fact that there isn't a serial number stamped on the hot shoe.

appendum: well, there is a numbered sticker inside the base plate. still...

The camera was most likely a prototype, but that is what got me wondering too. Take a look at the snake skin leatherette and screws.

Tonaya´s parts are probably for a gold M4-2 (she doesn´t have a very good reputation - among some RFF members.)

From what I know now, this looks like a M4-P someone gold plated!
prototype? I wouldn't call it that unless there was some proof!

If it was a prototype do you think Kevin would sell it for $7K?

There is no question in my mind this is a gold-plated (after-market) 70th Anniversary M4-P. And the numbered "metal tag stamp" stuck under the base plate right on top of the film-loading diagram does not impress me.

I forgot to mention that the lens is not even of the same vintage as the 70th Anniversary body - so they can't possibly be a factory matched set.

I have a near-mint chrome one with matching 50mm Summicron lens (also engraved "50 jahre...). I bought the set off eBay about 2 years ago for ~$2K. It's a lovely camera and lens. Very smooth and classy. Of course, the engravings don't make it take any better pictures but they're nice.

I am not really sure but 7 grands for this combo seems overated, even with the precious plating. I think I saw one a year ago same as this but for around 2 & 1/2 grands.
