I tried the G1. Not for me. The ergonomics are not good, and due to the extreme crop factor, where are the wides?

Give them time. They'll be there. Panasonic has a 10mm-20mm zoom available now, but it is slow. (And expensive, ~$1K).

You're missing a selection: neither. Why would I want either of them? Both are bad takes on the options available now and will both be utterly forgotten once decent options are available.

I'm with Bill. Were I to splurge on another digital camera, it would likely be the Pentax K7, or maybe the new Oly u4/3 camera. I know, I'll just vote both...

5000 dollars to shoot a portion of a 2000 lens still makes no sense to me.
When they invent a camera where I don't have to use a 21mm finder for a 15mm lens I will consider it. also, at that price it should last a lifetime. I don't see an m8 lasting a lifetime.

I absolutely love how a rangefinder handles.....it's great. But if I can only have one, it's the D3. Instead though, I chose D700 + M2 and CV 35/2.5. I shoot the M2 for pleasure, never on a paid gig though, and the D700 handles all of my paid work and occasionally shooting for fun, because it works with my strobes and the leica is a natural light camera.
