J-12 3.5cm F2.8 on the Nikon S2

The later J-12's did away with the protective ring around the rear element, but it still protrudes far into the camera. I just looked at a Biogon in an early LTM mount. The rear element interfered with the RF pickup wheel, making RF coupling impossible. The rear element would have to be sliced to make it work reliably.

In LTM, I would go with a Canon 35/2.8 and not a J-12. The difference in price between the two is not that great once shipping from Russia is added to the cost of J-12's on Ebay. My Canon 35/2.8 was ~$150.

Hmm, I may just save my pennies for a Nokton 35mm f/1.4 in that case. Thanks for the info!

I've actually got a J-12 and have had it for some time ... well over two years in fact and have never used it ... nice to know what I've been missing!

It was given to me by Ash when he was a member here. :)

my last one was given by Pitxu, and now gone to California - amazing just how much some of this junk circulates! :D

Well, if people don't want them- I'll take them! I've been thinking of putting the optics from the original Nikon P&S with the 35/2.8 into a housing.

Not until you see it working!

I've also saved the lens from my dead Litetouch, a 28/3.5. I need another I-69 to try it in. The Industar-69 does not cover full frame. The Nikon lens will.

How about the Zeiss Tessar from my dead old Yashica T2? Is it any use for hacking?

As long as you can make a fixture, and it fits into the old housing, it should work.

The Nikkor 28/3.8 comes out as a unit. The Aperture/Shutter are behind the optics. Makes things easier as you do not have to worry about setting the correct distance between front and rear group.

I wish I had kept my old Nikon P&S with its 28mm lens. I may have given it away a few years ago. I may have thrown away a Canon P&S with its 32mm lens.

Instead of sending my lenses to Raid for testing, I think I'll just drive some down. And have another Pizza Party at the Pool. Did Lena learn to swim yet?
