Is there a Japanese equivalent of RFF? I am curious what photos they have up in their gallery and see how cultural difference draw different images.

Here is the Japanese for ”rangefinder”:

レンジフィンダー

That is if the site and your OS can display foreign scripts. Here is ”forum”:

フォルム

Have fun on your search.

Finder, good job, but here is some correction. ;)

Rangefinder is レンジファインダー

Forum is フォーラム

I'm curious if there is a Japanese equivalent of RFF myself.

Search will probably be more successful using レンジファインダー(or 連動距離計) and フォーラム ;)

But even then probably not so successful, because AFAIK there isn't an equivalent of RFF in Japan.

A lot of Japanese photographers use flickr, so the best bet is probably to take a look there.

If you expand the scope to include all of Asial, I know there are forums similar to RFF in Taiwan, Korea, China, Singapore etc.

惜しい.

Katakana is not the easiest even though it is supposed be phonetic. I always had fun when our Japanese technical writers were discussing if the vowels where long or short. ファインダ ファインダー

But I stand corrected.

I am not aware of any Japanese RFF forum either, photographer here usually communicate via their blog. But - as Jon mentioned - lots of photos on flickr !

Hehe Finder, I know what you mean. It's super tricky. That's true about the handling of word-end "ー" in Katakana (typically adapted words from foreign languages). Typically, especially in recent years, not using the "ー" is becoming more common, especially for technical terms. I had to deal with this a lot when I was designing Expedia website for Japanese market. ;)

For "rangefinder" specifically, you should stick with レンジファインダー.

OK, getting back to the topic. As jonmanjiro mentioned, I have little hope of finding "Japanese RFF." The culture of online discussion forum in Japan is a bit different from the US or many of European countries. I'd try Flickr first as well. "2ch" is the huge discussion board portal so to speak, but it's a bit too deep in many ways. I believe there are many rangefinder camera specific threads/forums in there, but I doubt you'll find anything like RFF there.
