G1-- what a camera!

The only thing i want to say is: think twice if you see a low-cost alternative to m4/3 in, say the E410/420/510/520 series cameras. It didn't work for me, i sold the lot and went micro.

thanks for the advice. have to confess I've been lurking after used 4/3's for a cheapo and smallish AF & Zoom platform, for those situations when you just need them. would not need to use MF-lenses with it, or in Micro alternative either (bought recently used M8). but, no rush to anywhere, plenty of time to speculate ... :p

I absolutely love my G1 as well - if I had to live with only one camera rather than whatever stupid number i actually have I'd probably choose the G1 and live with it quite happily. It's a great street and snapshot cam but you can do more serious work with it as well - I just re-found and processed this one today:

The only area it doesn't quite cut it for me is in low light situations, because of the relatively high noise above ISO 400, but that's a quibble to me.

My G1 just arrived via UPS. The battery is charging and I am waiting to try out this little beauty. Still waiting for the 45~200 zoom to be delivered.
