In the mid 1970's I caught the photography bug from my uncle Freddy and he bought me a 126 format x177, (my memory may be a bit blurry), what I really wanted was an Olympus 35 Trip, after all if it was good enought for David Bailey;) Since then I have owned and replaced two trips, I also own an xa, rc and have owned an SP and OM4, (with the usual zuiko lens lineup). So I guess I am biased but I must say the Olympus Trip 35 with its 40/2.8 zuiko is a real bargain and in the right conditions a great image maker,a real gem of a cmaera. Do any of the forum members regularly shoot with one of these

kind regards Mick

When I met David Bailey he seemed pretty impressed that I pulled out a Hasselblad to take his photo...

Maybe he would have shook my hand if it was an Oly ;)

I don't regularly shoot mine but I do take it on 'trips.' Right now the meter isn't working, but it died so rapidly I'm hoping I goofed a wire when I took it apart for a frame counter fix. So mine could possibly be up for sale, of course, the price would be $0.00 plus shipping and handling.

I have two Trips and two 35RCs - they are all much-loved but one of the Trips has a minor focussing issue which needs recalibrating.

I'm also a big OM fan and have five different OM SLRs with a variety of lenses - Mr Maitani has a lot to answer for...!

I have a Trip in immaculate condition sitting in front of me right now. I've put woefully few rolls of film through it, but when I focus properly, I'm always shocked by how good the images are. I need to retrain myself to not try to use it like I use my other fancy cameras with faster lenses, because I always get a little disappointed. When I use it in non-extreme photographic situations, though, it performs quite well. I love the fact that it will never need batteries, and something about the flag that pops up when there's not enough light amuses me every time it happens.

Along with my XA, Mju-II and other films cameras they've not seen action in ages since I'm shooting mostly digital, but I can certainly vouch for the quality of the lens. Gotta give these a run out soon.
